So i originally had a room booked with them for $290 a night and then added an extra day to my trip because i did not think we would have enough time to explore the resort, do MK and Epcot and do DTD.

Today i saw a standard room view for $251 a night! Thats crazy for a deluxe resort!

People are avoiding it because of the construction, and it often wasn't full prior to that. That's part of the reason they're converting half the Lodge to DVC, since DVC runs 98% occupancy.

kyomagi, what dates are you looking at for the $251 a night rate? Thank you.

It's $249.64 taxes in for a Standard Room (through the Canadian portal) this week. We just changed our trip from September to this week and were upgraded to an amazing view of the castle and a clear view of the fireworks. No construction work being done on this side in the past week so all is quiet. The resort is empty and there is no one around the pool during the day. Dining reservations in the resort for both restaurants were open for any time slot we wanted. Having an amazing time!!!

end of october/beginning of nov. Going to catch the last two days of october and what not.

And if its being converted to DVC thats great, less of a chance to be sold out so quick

Half of the building is closed. When you walk into the lobby, the entire right side is closed from inside the lobby all the way out into the courtyard.

We ate at Whispering Canyon in May, you could hear hammering and drilling.

do you think it might be a good idea to switch to a different resort then? half of the U building is closed?

I wouldn't switch. We got a great rate on our room there this summer and had the most wonderful time. The construction did not bother us one bit. We can't stop thinking about Wilderness Lodge. We are even considering buying DVC there when it's available. Keep your reservation and enjoy this amazing resort.

thanks. WL is my dream resort, we have gone to Disney 7 times since 09 and this is second on our "must stay" hotel list.

We stayed there in late August a couple of years ago. We paid $169 per night.

In general, if something is someone's "dream resort," I usually advise staying away from it while there is major construction going on. The trees being cut down, the hammering... are rarely part of people's dreams of WL.

:flower3: Your title had me quickly open up the thread....I was hoping to see something along the lines of what I used to pay....$99 a night! LOL! I know - those days are long gone. I do miss staying there though, just can't justify it for the time we spend in the room and the frequency we visit the World.

From what i have heard so far its not that bad.

That is a great price, we have been trying to book WL with a pin code we had and have zero success. Been told by Disney rooms are not available, only at full price and they did not quote me 290 a night. Did you discount code, pin code?

That's an okay rate, but no it's not unheard of. I paid a little more than that last year for spring break at the BWI. Also I paid that years ago for a club level room at AKL over Christmas.

I'm not a fan of WL, and especially with construction going on. I don't think that's an unusual price for there - now if I were club level it may be enticing, but for a regular room that actually seems like a normal discounted rate.

That's the avg rate for WL actually. It's the smaller of the Deluxe and without the monorail you don't get the premium rates.

Personally, it's our favorite of the MK resorts, over CR and Poly. Even with the construction. Which was of a non-issue on our stay last month

It's not bad at all. And best of all, for that low rate you stand a chance of a theme park view room. Just ask for a higher floor. The Standard Rooms will all look out towards MK. With the trees down for the cabins on the water you can see MK with as good a view as they have at Poly or GF.
