Does wilderness lodge usually go this cheap?

That's the avg rate for WL actually. It's the smaller of the Deluxe and without the monorail you don't get the premium rates.

Personally, it's our favorite of the MK resorts, over CR and Poly. Even with the construction. Which was of a non-issue on our stay last month

It's not bad at all. And best of all, for that low rate you stand a chance of a theme park view room. Just ask for a higher floor. The Standard Rooms will all look out towards MK. With the trees down for the cabins on the water you can see MK with as good a view as they have at Poly or GF.
That's what we experienced last month. Our standard view fifth floor room had an amazing view of MK and the CR. I spent so much time on my balcony during this trip. At first, I really wanted a courtyard view. After our stay, I'm so glad we had the view we had (and it was cheaper).

It's about average, keep in mind that even though it is a deluxe resort (and well worth it), the price is a bit lower because it is not on the monorail line :)

So i originally had a room booked with them for $290 a night and then added an extra day to my trip because i did not think we would have enough time to explore the resort, do MK and Epcot and do DTD.

Today i saw a standard room view for $251 a night! Thats crazy for a deluxe resort!
Yes, it tends to be one of the more reasonably-priced deluxes because the rooms are smallish and the transportation isn't great (boat service only to MK, and shared buses everywhere else).

Agreed. The lack of a monorail stop keeps the price down. With Uber and Lyft though I think that would offset the price difference. I would be tempted to book a cheaper resort and take Lyft instead of the monorail.

Which, since we are way past the stroller stage, we feel is one of WL's biggest selling points. A less than 5 minute bus ride or a very relaxing boat ride to MK. Plus, knocking on wood here, never been on a boat or bus that broke down yet been stuck ON the monorail well over a dozen times.

You and me both! I am one that does NOT consider being on the monorail line a benefit. I really dislike that thing

It's $249.64 taxes in for a Standard Room (through the Canadian portal) this week. We just changed our trip from September to this week and were upgraded to an amazing view of the castle and a clear view of the fireworks. No construction work being done on this side in the past week so all is quiet. The resort is empty and there is no one around the pool during the day. Dining reservations in the resort for both restaurants were open for any time slot we wanted. Having an amazing time!!!
Would you mind sharing what room type and what floor?? I'd like to note for our trip in December. Thanks and hope you're having a blast!

Most of our family likes the monorail, but we definitely think it is way overrated, even with our stroller. I do not even factor in transportation when we pick a resort anymore.

We booked a Standard Room but after checking in, it was listed as a Woods View on our My Disney Experience. We just got back but were in room 4026. Enjoy!

If I'm not mistaken they have removed Woods view from booking even though they still have them identified that way. Now all they have to book is Courtyard and Standard. Which is why if you book Standard and get a high floor you will have TPV

Not a great price but with the trees recently taken down those once wooded views that now show the castle will likely go up in price.

We stayed at WL last august just before most of the construction started.

Keep in mind this is a very small hotel compared to other Disney properties so construction here is more noticable and there's no getting around it.

To us even though during our stay they were just renovating some rooms to dvc and doing work that had entire side and some court yard rooms in scaffolding it did take away from the quiet wooded ambience we were hoping for by staying here.

We weren't necessarily looking for a good price just anxious to stay at this resort for its park like feel so the construction although minor at the time -compared to now -was disappointing and took away from the hotels feel.

So you should weigh why you want to stay there.

But I agree that is not a great price we too are staying at GF in 16 days standard view for $259 love being on the monorail since still spending two days at MK and ressies at other monorail restaurants, no construction, no pool closures.

That view is AMAZING!!! I'm curious, what floor were you on? We were in room 5012 last month and loved our view, however, it wasn't quite as good as yours. We could only see a little bit of the castle because some trees blocked most of it. I loved watching the monorail and boats go by and seeing the Contemporary all lit up at night. Thanks for sharing your photo.

6th floor. Last room in the wing. Had the lobby elevators been in operation we would have had the longest walk of all but with the elevator being near Roaring Forks it is in the middle so the walk wasn't bad at all.

I told DH when we walked in our room that it wouldn't be $200 night for long.

Funny, we both thought the construction added to the quietness of the resort since half of it's closed. We've stayed in it 2 other times and it was much louder, busier and not as relaxing. With so much closed it was very peaceful. No construction work could be heard anywhere. Other than when we arrived we did hear some of the workers talking outside when we went on the balcony. But that was just a one time thing. Never heard them any other times.

I don't understand why they wouldn't have a TV channel with the Wishes music playing along with the fireworks for people on that side of the building? We ended up playing back a YouTube video with the soundtrack and tweaking it so it aligned with the live show. When we got off the bus one evening while the fireworks were going off, they had the Wishes music playing in the bus and walkway up to the building and around the pool I believe. Great help that was since it was on the opposite side of the building...:sad2:

LOL... too funny.

I suspect eventually they will, once they are officially tagged with the TPV label. And the price triples. But till then, you'll have to make do like you did, and pocket the price difference.
