Does wilderness lodge usually go this cheap?

I told DH when we walked in our room that it wouldn't be $200 night for long.

Funny, we both thought the construction added to the quietness of the resort since half of it's closed. We've stayed in it 2 other times and it was much louder, busier and not as relaxing. With so much closed it was very peaceful. No construction work could be heard anywhere. Other than when we arrived we did hear some of the workers talking outside when we went on the balcony. But that was just a one time thing. Never heard them any other times.

That's good but when we were there it was loud - especially outside. It was crowded in the inside seating of roaring forks so we went outside and heard the hammering and sawing. Not what we expected.

We decided to stick with it. we actually added a night to the trip. I am super excited, we wont be at the resort except for the early morning and night so contruction should be stoped by then. Another resort ticked off the list!

OK, I'm puzzled how everyone is getting these great rates at Wilderness Lodge. :confused3 I've been checking for passholder and general public discounts, but no Wilderness Lodge discounts show up as available for my dates in early November. Did you all go through some third party website or did you get these great rates directly from Disney? Thanks in advance.

My cheap AP rate was for pretty much the 2nd week of September.

You need to use a travel agent to get the best rates.

A travel agent agency exclusive rate.

There's a certain travel agent that has these rates (DIS boards does not allow the name to be posted). From what I understand, they book a block of rooms at a group rate and then sell them. Not every travel agent has access to these rates.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure that's the one I already contacted, but they said they don't have any block of rooms at WL. As of now, they don't have any WL discounts at all. Perhaps they did in some years past, but not this year. That's why I'm thinking the people on this thread who got great rates at WL this year, must have gotten them directly from Disney.

Daisy, I'm puzzled too! We have a pin code, and I've not seen WL listed once in the past few months with the pin code and not even now with the new holiday discount. With the construction, it would make sense to me that they would be offering discounts for that resort.

The building is half closed, so they probably have filled those rooms. It's especially popular for holiday decorations.

They still show plenty of availability at full price, including early November which is probably before the holiday decorations go up.

Really? I booked my room in July and from mid August on I could not find ANY rooms available.....occasionally one would pop up, but not one in past few weeks. No discounts seen and the chat, the phone peeps all insist there is no construction except outside....ha! I keep hoping someone will cancel with a discount 30 days out.....praying!:-)

I'm going to WDW in early Feb.. I just called and got a room only VISA discount for that time. I was told the room only discount was available for courtyard view rooms only for Feb. 5-10 and not the standard rooms. The discount was only 25%. I miss the days where 40% off was common.

Well any discount is better than none at all!!! I usually have always obtained 30%, 35% or 40%.....right now I am paying rack rate....ouch! That said I have always gone Jan and Feb.....so much for my first November trip.....o_O.....good thing my Disney Rewards is covering tickets, party ticket, dining and my airfare was free!:-) I used $700 of them to help ease my rack rate pain....:P. So guess in the end I think of my resort cost as the entire cost of my trip. That said it's not all bad....:D.

At the time when I previously posted that rooms were available at rack rate for the dates I was checking, they were. They are not available any more. Regardless your dates may be different anyway. For my next trip I've given up on WL because the lowest rate I ever saw for my dates was almost $400 per night. But I hope you find what you are looking for, or something even better. :goodvibes

We have had AP for years primarily for use in securing discounts at Disney hotels (we only go twice a year and sometimes only once a year) ---the last 3 years there never seem to be any standard rooms available with the discount and I call every morning once the discounts are released..you can sometimes get a discount on a woods view and above but then those prices, even with the discount, are higher than the standard room. This year we will be at WL in early November and the best rate I could get was 361.00 with the weekend being a higher rate...we get 3 rooms for our growing family, so it is very expensive. The location is great, the hotel is wonderful, the boat ride makes is very easy with small children and strollers, but the continuing rise every year in the room rates along with the lack of available standard room discounts, is cost prohibitive. I hate to think that we may not be able to continue our annual tradition at WL and also are thinking we may have to let our AP lapse as we seem to be unable to get any discounts on standard rooms at any of the Deluxe resorts.
