Can you bring your own personal swim rings or floats from home to use in the resort pool?

We will be staying at CSR, if that matters. Can you use the swim rings, etc in the quiet pools, main pool, both or just one or the other?

at French Quarter they had little blow up floats for sale in the resort store.....the kids were using the rings too.......every morning the lifeguards would put the noodles in the pool too......
I remember that at All Star Movies they would blow up balls and the kids had a blast with them.....

I bought our DDs small inflatable boats from the Dollar store to use in the GF pools. We asked the lifeguards if we could use them and they said it was fine as long as they were not huge (to obstruct view from anything that might be below). At the end of our trip we left them behind for others to enjoy. I already bought inflatable rings for this trip for the girls to use too! I also saw some pool noodles but I didn't know who they belonged to.

How big were the rings? DD has one that is large enough for an adult to sit in, do you think that would be allowed? (We're staying at ASMu.)

Inner tubes big enough for adults are NOT allowed.neither are floating rafts or chairs. Small rings for kids, arm floats, noodles are. Lifeguards need to be able to see the entire bottom of the pool at all times for safety reasons.

Thank you so much everyone!

My DD will be so excited. She loves floating in her ring, or even better yet, floating in her ring swimming along right beside her daddy and big brother. :cool1:

I saw some Disney rings at the Dollar Tree store the other day. There was one with Ariel and one with the Cars or Pirates of Carribean I think.

The ring size restrictions may vary pool to pool.

Each WDW trip we make to the YC, we take along our very large (the exact same size/type the pool has available for rent) Seylor brand floating rings. They hold an adult very (very!) comfortably...

Sometimes we take our own tiny electric pump and inflate them in the room right before heading to the pool, and other times we inflate them (leaving a tip) at the store/float rental booth inside the pool complex. Stormalong Bay is quite large and spread out - the lazy river type - and the large rings aren't an issue there. But, the rings DO need to be the clear/translucent type, so the lifeguards do not have any obstructed views of the water and the swimmers.

Have fun!

Have you done this recently? Because this past Sept 08 I was told we could NOT use our own even though they were completely Clear.

Wow - that would be crappy if this has changed at Stormalong! Our last trip there using our own large clear rings was Christmas '07. We enjoy the flexibility of having our own and not being locked into the rental schedule. We never ask(ed) anyone if we could bring ours in - just always did it - they are identical to the rentals. And no one ever batted an eyelash.

If you didn't just end up with a cranky or perhaps mis-informed CM, maybe this is yet another "enhancing revenue" opportunity for Disney? It certainly isn't a safety issue if a guest's ring is the same as the rentals. Maybe if one of the lifeguards/CMs who frequent these boards could provide some additional info on this topic...?

A couple of other posters here have recently had the same experience as i did. They allow noodles, arm floaties for the little ones. But when it comes to large tubes , they wouldn't allow any from home now.In the past , you could but they had to be Clear, as in colorless( mine and yours i am sure are and they were very hard to find)Maybe it is a money thing, or a money /regualting thing. They only rent out so many to keep the numbers of tubes in the water at a minimum/maximum:confused3

Do you know if you can bring an infant sized ring to the water parks? I have a very slippery 6 month old that I'm worried about keeping afloat!

at the SAB the other week ago, they stopped a mother from there child using on there own little inter tube things, because it was colored and they could not see. but you can buy them right there. and I had someone give me 4 noodles the day they left! and in turn I passed mine on to someone who was just getting there after I was leaving. so I would just wait and get what they have there.

They don't allow any type of float at all at the water parks. I've seen kids with the floaties that they wear on their arms, but no rings. They do have child tubes with a bottom in them to use in the lazy river. But not in the wave pools.

We have used arm floaties, small rings, and the infant rings that are covered with a hood. The only thing a CM has ever told me I could not use was my child's snorkel.

The water parks are extremely strict with what you can use. I wanted to bring a noodle once and was told no. I've seen the arm floaties and the tubes that the park uses on the slides and in the lazy river. They do offer life jackets, though.

Think of it in terms of safety...How awful would it be if a small child ,older child, adult whatever, was on the bottom of the pool and the lifeguard can't get to them. Because they can't see them due to all the floats in the pool. The lifeguards don't do this to be mean people. They need to do their job.I have seen them allow a few people in with big tubes, and then after the pool gets busier tell the people to take them out of the pool. Truthfully , it is alot of extra stuff to haul to WDW and not be able to use.I know even our local Twsp pool does not allow floats anymore after a kid almost drowned in the scenario I described. In a large place like SAB it is too risky. In the wave pool at the waterparks it is dangerous since people body surf and can slam into you

I apologize for not being more clear. I was responding to only the OP's question about resort pools. We've taken only arm floaties to the WP's.

You are correct on the pools at the resorts, though. Lot more leeway in using these items.
