I am decorating my room and I bought the comforter, bed skirt, etc. yesterday. I still haven't bought my sheets, and I was just curious how much good sheets are worth to you? I am not the best sleeper and I am thinking if I can get a good nights sleep it's worth the money to buy good sheets. Any suggestions?

I'm a picky sheet girl. I don't sleep that well anyways and I love getting into bed with soft sheets. I bought a great set last month or month before from Linens N Things. They haven't shrank or pilled and still retained their shap and soo comfortable.

We hate normal sheets. No matter how high the thread count, they just are not as soft as jersey sheets.

So, we have five sets of jersey sheets in various colors.

Thank you! Keep them coming. I didn't realize how attached to my old sheets until i thought about buying new ones. They are like an old tennis shoe, comfy. :rotfl:

I'm a sheet snob. 100% cotton with a high thread count is a requirement.

Satin or silk are out of the question. I don't want to dive into bed and feel like I'm gonna squirt out the other side of the bed.

Once you sleep on really good sheets, you'll never go back! :lovestruc You won't be able to understand how you got along so long without good sheets!

DM used to make fun of me for buying good (she heard expensive) sheets. Till she found some marked down at Marshall's. Now she's hooked! :worship: And she thinks I'm a genius.

Probably wouldn't go under 350, would rather at least 400. I am so confused though. I guess I could bring them back if I don't like them. I don't want them to wrinkle either, I bought these pillow cases awhile back and they are so wrinkled when they get out of the dryer.

I have a thing with rough textures, so I have to have good quality sheets. I've actually found you can get really nice, high thread count bedding on overstock for great prices. I purchased ours there a few years ago - egyptian cotton about 1000 thread count iirc. I also purchased our duvet there and a new mattress cover just a few weeks ago. Their stock changes a lot but they usually have at least a few things to choose from and the prices are great.

I'm a sheet snob...
My absolute minimun is 300 thread count. Although I'm on 450 right now. And they're 100% cotton. All the thread count in the world won't make a difference unless it's all cotton. I've actually felt 600 thread count sheets that didn't feel as soft as my 450. So it really is a matter of personal preference, and you have to feel them before you buy them. ALSO, keep in mind that they'll soften up some too when you wash them the first time.

Ahhhhhh...Now I want to be in bed. :goodvibes

yesterday i bought two sets of 300 count, 100% egyptian cotton (classic percale) king sheet sets at bed bath beyond - would have liked the higher thread counts, but they were so expensive - just hope once they're washed (with lots of downy fabric softener!) they'll be nice and soft

I never ever cared about sheet thread counts until someone gave me some really great sheets as a gift. Now I never buy anything lower than 400 thread count.

I love flannel sheets. They are by far my favorite.

Being the frugal one that I am, I just found some sheets that were about 300 thread count on sale and will be giving those a test this coming week.

Yes it matters!!! Even my hubby enjoys the higher thread counts. Couple of things to keep in mind, most sheets you buy at stores are not true thread counts! So you may be buying what you think are 600 thread count sheets but in fact they are far less. And there are very few looms in the world that even make 1000 and above thread count sheets. So if you find them somewhere make sure you are really getting what you are paying for. Good Housekeeping did a study recently on thread counts and they found MOST sheets are not true to what the store says they are. I have lots of info so if you are interested, please PM me. I would be happy to send you copies of the info I have.
Or you can leave me a message on my blog!!! :)

Higher thread count sheets are sort of like TIVO...you can't see why you
would really need them until you have them, and then you can't imagine living without them.

With my first set of 600 TC my DH was indulging me. After I put them on our bed, he insisted that I get a second set.

I find QVC to be an excellent source for sheets. I can get all cotton,
700 TC with 4 pillow cases, queen size for $85.00 a set. All their return policy is great.

My minimum is 300 count. I actually can't stand Egyptian cotton. It may be super soft, but it just wrinkles too much and looks really worn after washing. I'm a crisp 100% percale cotton person. :)

well, however they turn out, we'll have to be ok with them - at least they're a pretty shade of steel blue!

Nothing less than 400 for me. I also have to feel them at the store and they must be soft in the package. I do buy Jersey sheets for the girls. They don't like the cheap still itchy sheets I use to buy. Now the girls are spoiled, but I won't buy the real expensive ones for them either. That's why I go with Jersey.

I figure if i'm spending 1/3 of my life in bed, I may as well be comfortable. Egyptian Coton and high thread count (500 or better) is all I'll sleep on.

I have to second the jersey sheets. They're incredibly comfortable. I don't like sleeping with any other sheets, except maybe flannel in the winter.
