I am planning our first trip To DL in July. I have had such a hard time deciding on a hotel. Save money and stay at CCI. Splurge at GCH. I finally decided on a happy middle-- PPH. I do not want to pay more for a view so a standard room would be just great. I checked the web site and called Disney but all standard rooms are sold out at the PPH for my dates. I can, however, get a standard room at PPH on two other travel sites. Is this normal? I apologize if this is a silly question. I just really would rather book with Disney than some travel site I have never used before. I hope I am making sense.

Travel agencies/sites do draw from different "inventory" than the hotels themselves do (and that means WDTC which books packages has different inventory than whichever part of Disneyland resorts books the hotel rooms "a la carte"), so yes, that sort of thing is common.

Are you looking for a package or room-only? Which sites are you finding? If you're looking at a package, I've used Costco Travel and they were good. AAA also uses WDTC (same as Costco) so it's as close to booking directly through WDTC as you can get without booking through them.

Many here have used places like Travelocity for room-only stays.

magicalfoursome have you checked the Disneyland Hotel? With the hotel only room rate the Disneyland Hotel is only running about 20.00 per night more then the Pier. I just booked June last week and it was almost the same price with the 35% discount for Disneyland Hotel verses the 30% for the Pier. You have to book it as hotel only and get your tickets to the park separate but it is actually cheaper than the packages and you can also cancel up to 5 days before your trip with no penalty. If you get to the 5 day marker and are still planning on going then you can just get online and buy your parkhopper tickets, print them at home, and then take them to the entrance of the park where they will exchange your paper print out with an ordinary parkhopper for the rest of your stay. We just purchased this way last month for the first time and it was painless. Good luck on a ressie - deals like this on site during the Summer don't come often so if you can swing it, it is a great time to splurge.

Thanks for the reply. I am looking for a room only for 4 nights. We are going to San Diego for 3 nights and we plan on buying the SoCa citypass to visit all the attractions. The sites that I found the standard room for PPH are Expedia, Hotel.com and BJ's Travel.

Thanks but I tried that also. DLH is running higher than GCH for my dates! I am looking for 4 nights room only in late July.

I've used Hotels.com for a couple of different ressies and never had a problem with them. Just be sure you read the fine print. I've had to pay up front and have been able to just make a reservation.

My sister just used Hotels.com for her trip to Seattle in mid April and they were much cheaper for the hotel she wanted than anyone else. She had to pay up front but can cancel within 48 hours of her stay and still get all her money back.

I just went to the Disneyland site and punched in 4 nights @ the Pier starting on July 20th-24th, 24th-28th, and 27th-31st and all nights came up available in a standard view room ranging from 820.00 to about 1130.00 for the 4 nights. I would say try again because nights are always being booked and released and as people begin to finalize their trips. Good luck...

My dates are 7/25-7/29 and PPH upper level theme park view is the cheapest room available. GCH is actually cheaper than DHL for the rooms that are available on my dates.
**update- I kept checking the DL website and a DLH resort view room opened up for $38 more a night than PPH on Expedia so I booked DLH!! I am so excited!!
