Does this sound logical?

I don't know if anyone has tried this, but would it be better to just rent a car from my city and return it to the Dolphin car care center when I arrive in Orlando and then rent it again on the last day of my trip at the Dolphin car care center and turn it back in when I get to my city? Has anyone ever done this before? I just thought it sounded and looked better on paper as far as money goes with doing it this way then having it all week. I will be able to use Disney Transportation while I'm there anyway so I really don't need a vehicle the whole time. I would love some feedback on this. Thank You.

That's what I'd do! We always use Disney Transportation, so the car would be just sitting there for us! My brother rented a car for one day to travel up to NASA during one of our trips. They kept trying to get him to rent the car for his whole stay saying it wouldn't be that much more - but if you aren't going to use it why pay?

What you are talking about is a one-way rental both ways, which may be quite expensive when you figure in the drop-off fees. If you tell the rental company you want to rent the car for 1 day, they will expect you to return it to the ORIGINATION city at the end of the 24-hour period. If you want to drop it off at a different city, they will tack on additional fees to compensate them for the transfer of the car. I'd recommend discussing this idea with the rental car company before you reserve anything.
