Okay, I'm getting paranoid that I'm way off and now is when I have to start saving money.

Here's the breakdown: My fiancee and I, 9 days/8 nights last week of September 2002.

Airfare from BWI to MCO: $400
Two 8 day/7night UMPs with DC discount: $700
Tiffany Towncar w/ coupon and tip: $100
All Star Music (hoping to upgrade to a Moderate): $700

Total Before Food: $1900

We'll be doing breakfast at the hotels, counter service lunches, and sit down dinners, most of which will be buffets or family style. The only two dinners we'll be doing that aren't buffet or family style will be San Angel Inn and Victoria & Albert's. We're not big drinkers, but we will probably have the wine pairing at V&A's.

Total Food Budget: $1000

Goal to save is $3000, this sound about right to everyone.

I'm already putting all my change into a bin, and depending how much I save in there that may be our upgrade money. Any suggestions are appreciated.

You may save a little with an Annual Pass instead of UMP's but that would only work if you don't plan on going to DisneyQuest or the Water Parks more than 1 time. The Annual Pass also offers a better hotel discount and since September is a slow time you are more likely to get one then.

going2wdw, I was thinking the same thing. Plus, Hollymom1229 can plan another trip in 2003 before her APs expire and get 2 trips out of them.

Hollymom1229, I spend an average of $80 per day on food and snacks for 2 adults and a toddler. We eat breakfast in the room or at the food court (gotta have Mickey Waffles), lunch at counter service or off-site and dinner at a nice place (Flying Fish, California Grill, etc) or off-site. Since you won't have a car to go off-site and V&A is in your plans I think that $1000 for food might be a bit low :(. V&A's will eat up $300 of that easily. Have you looked at the menus here on DIS or over at Deb Will's site (http://www.wdwig.com/menu/menus.htm)? They will give you an idea of how much you'd spend in a day.

Actually the UMPs really are the best option for my fiancee and I, we intend to spend a few evenings at DQ and PI. Also we'd like to spend a morning or two at a water park. I did the math on what it would cost to do those without the UMP and it was just too much. Also we have a wedding the following October so further vacations are not going to be in our budget, this is our last vacation for awhile.

Robinb, thanks for the notice on the food, and you're right I am budgeting a little low. Better to be safe than sorry, so I'll budget an extra $200 there. That'll bring the trip total to $3100.

Hollymom...you are right about the change jar...put one in the laudry also, any amount found in the washer or dryer becomes Disney money!! The Grandpap just finished counting the change jars and laundry money = $437.98!!!! Unfortunatly he will now start cleaning out his pockets before they get to the washer:(

By the way, the change jars where about 6 months of saving and the laudry jar close to two years.

we are still going to Disney World in january:D :D :D

Sounds about right, but don't forget to budget for some souveneirs and other incidentals!
