Does this plan sound reasonable?

We are headed to WDW April 29-May 9 for our daughter's wish trip. The "official" part of the trip is April 29-May 5 and we are doing the last 4 days on our own. We are staying at Give Kids the World, arriving late afternoon on the 29th. From what I have been told, we will recieve a 3 day hopper to WDW, a 2 day hopper to UO/IOA and a one day pass to Sea World. This is what our plan looks like so far. Please let me know if this sounds the best for a family with of Mom, Dad, dd 8 with Down syndrome and in maintenance for leukemia and an energetic 6 year old son.

April 29 - arrive late afternoon - hang around GKTW
April 30 - IOA for son's 7th birthday
May 1 - EPCOT 8:30 Storybook Breakfast in Norway/ MGM in the afternoon
May 2 - AK in morning/MK in PM
May 3 - rest and play at GKTW
May 4 - Sea World
May 5 - Universal/IOA
May 6 & 7 St. Pete Beach then return to Orlando
May 8 - MK all day
May 9 - Breakfast at Trails End at FW then airport.

How long does it take to get from EPCOT to MGM and from AK to MK just so we have an idea in planning our days? We will have a rental car.

Thanks so much! This is our first trip and we are all so excited we can hardly stand it!

Sounds like a great trip! First, let me say that I pray that your dd might recover from her leukemia. My dw has survived CML for over 2 years and is doing well on Gleevec, so it looks like she may be one of the lucky ones.

I assume you are doing evenings at each of MK, Epcot, and MGM, so you don't miss any of the evening shows. Fantasmic and Illuminations are things you don't want to miss seeing! I think you would do well to hop over to Epcot on 5/2 to see Illuminations at 9 pm. Then you can stay late at MK on 5/8 to see Spectromagic. These are all spectacular shows you have to see to believe.

Plan on it taking about an hour to go gate to gate from one theme park to another, depending on when you are traveling.

As usual, I will recommend the Unofficial Guide to WDW as an indispensible reference for planning your trip. Don't go without a plan of how you want to see the parks.

Where can I find a schedule of the fireworks shows?

Thanks for the input, airtime! I appreciate it and the prayers!!!

If you go to waltdisneyworld.com, they have links to the park hours and fireworks and show times! I think they go out 3 months in advance! Hope that helps! I really hope your family enjoys what is looking to be like a wonderful vacation!

From here you should be able to find all that you need. I am not sure if you have visited this site before, if not take a look around. You can find menus, pictures of all the resorts and lots of other useful info.

Your family will be in my prayers! Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the parade/firework info. I found it and added Illuminations on May 1, Wishes to May 2, and Spectromagic to May 8.

Sounds good. Have a great vacation.

I am the children's oncology coordinator at a hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. From the pictures and the stories the kids I work with tell me after a trip to the World and a stay at Give the Kids the World- you all will have a fantastic trip. The kids are treated super special and have a blast!!

I am glad to hear your daughter is finally in maintenance!!

Have a fun and blessed trip.
Michelle

That is so wonderful that you are getting to go. I met a dad and his daughter on the Disney cruise for Christmas of '02 and I was so touched. When I talked to him, I cried and told him about Kidd's Kids in Dallas (KISS FM) and he was touched by that as well. His daughter had severe CP as well as a form of cancer. It is beautiful to see people get to take a trip of a lifetime.
