I think the font thing is them just thinking their post should stand out. Not sure why somebody would feel that should be the case, but there some that do it in almost all of their posts.

I also agree that the paragraph thing is the most annoying with the lack of capitalization coming in close behind. The worst part is both are obviously done on purpose because in the cases I'm thinking of it's every post by the person, not just once or twice.

You know, I'm right up there with the writing cops. Not that I'm the best writer, but I too am bugged by poor writing habits (let's just call it that.)

But after trying out other message boards on the web, I believe this is one of the best I've seen. In fact, not only are most posts, for the most part, well-written, but they are well thought-out and well-put. Most people are even able to convey their humor successfully and without offense.

Of course this is a broad generalization about this board and there are many exceptions, I'm sure. But compared to the general population of message boards out there, this one is exceptional, IMO .

Just today I was on the official Idol message boards and most of the posts are so pointless, they're not even worth clicking on, much less responding to. We are, believe it or not, a pretty intelligent bunch. I think that's why most people hang out here way beyond the trip planning stage

I get easily annoyed at poor grammer and other things in posts, but I usually don't say anything. I just skip the post. Some of my biggest pet peeves:

1. Posting in all CAPS! This just makes it very difficult for me to read.
2. Failure to punctuate. A period here and there makes a huge difference.
3. Posting in all small letters. This is another of those very difficult to read, especially when it's teamed up with the abbreviations, and I'm not talking bout WDW for Walt Disney World either. I'm talking about using u for you, etc. Is it really that difficult to spell these days?

Personally, to me these types of things read as unintelligent, which turns me off from those posts.

Okay, this may be minor, but it bothers me.

There are some people on these boards who refuse to use real punctuation...... they only use leaders between sentences, like this.........It's really hard for me to take their posts seriously! C'mon! Use a period or a question mark once in a while!

You know what? After posting on the first page, going out and doing errands, returning with the start of a migraine, coming back to read the rest of the posts, and now replying again, I have more insight.

If you want a serious answer from me (here it goes, T&B is being serious--write it in your calendar ) the only real thing that I see here on a regular basis that bothers me enough for me to not read a post is the lack of paragraphs. And that's only because it makes it hard to read, and in general, I do want to read what other posters have to say. And if I don't want to read what you have to say, I won't tell you about it.

You know something else that bothers me is run-on sentences I mean use a period or comma or even some ellipses but just do not do run on sentences because they really bother me and I'm sure they bother other people who just don't want to stir the pot and admit that they don't like run on sentences either because it bothers them as much as it bothers me to have to read run-on sentences if you know what I mean.
