I was checking out information on the Wildlife Express Train . Well the hours were not available for August yet but I did see it closed at 4:50 this month.
Does it always close early?
When we are going the AK closes at 5:00.
We have went to the conservation station and planned on doing this trip but if it closes a few hours before the park closes we may not have time.

I worked at Conservation Station back in 2002. Yes, the area closes an hour before the rest of the park. I don't know if it has changed over the years but my guess is that it still closes an hour before the rest of the park. If you are really interested in what is at Conservation Station than I would suggest trying to take a train there no later than 1.5hrs - 2hrs before the park closes. They do have a scheduled last train and CM's will direct people out of the area to make the last train. They will not let you take your time at the end of the day like some other areas of the park might since the train is the only way in/out for guests.

Also, the last train from Africa to Rafiki's is round trip only. You can not disembark the train, it will only pick up the last people leaving Rafiki's.

Ok thanks for the info , we will just try to go earlier then what we planned.

We were there last October and according to the Times Guide for the weeks we were there the train schedule varied with the park's hours:

Park 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM: Train 9:30 AM - 4:50 PM
Park 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM: Train 9:30 AM - 4:50 PM
Park 9:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Train 9:30 AM - 4:50 PM

Ok thanks,so I will assume it will stop running at 4:50 since the park closes at 5:00 the day we will be going.

We like to go to Conservation Station in the morning when vet procedures can be viewed so if you have any budding veterinarians, you can ask what is scheduled at the train station or guest relations. There was one day of the week when no procedures were scheduled - I think it was Wed, but I cannot remember for certain.

The final train is for those leaving Conservation Station since it is just before it closes.

The animals are "in the habit" (they hear their sounds for going back to their enclosures)

Rafiki's Planet Watch and the Conservation Station can be viewed at any time. The mornings do have vet procedures but we've gone at all times, including high noon and right before the last train as well as in the morning and haven't really been disappointed. OK - there was one time I was disappointed. All those fuzzy hairy pigs were taking a break from the petting area.

We have decided to go around 11:00. We wont be there until about 10:00 and plan to ride the safari first. Then I figure we can get on the train. How long should we allow for going to the conservation station?

It depends. After the Safari, you can go right for the train. At the most, you will have to wait maybe ten minutes for the train which takes maybe ten minutes. Then, there's a walk back to Conservation Station and you can see some interesting animals and hear some things about them. The time spent doing that is up to you. Once at the Station, there are a lot of exhibits inside and, again, that's up to you on how much time you want to spend. The petting area is outside and, again, it's up to you on how much time you spend there.

My husband and I are animal lovers and have seen the exhibits quite a few times so inside, we look at anything moving and outside, we spend time with anything moving. My husband will pet each goats and I have to take my time with the pigs because kids really are amused at seeing hairy pigs and love petting and brushing them. Then we need to walk around see the other animals. So, we take slightly over an hour for the entire time. Although, *cough*, the first time, well, it may have been a lot more than that. That was when my husband promised every single goat that we would win the lottery and have their brothers and sisters as our "children". Yes, he did that. And no, he didn't have anything with alcohol that day.
