Does the waitlist look for matches?

I was thinking about people on the waitlist for busy times when most if not all rooms are probably booked. Does the waitlist check for matches? By that I mean what if I have a reservation at BWV and want to switch to BCV. There might very well be someone at BCV that wants to switch to BWV. Would the waitlist see this and make the switch? I'm thinking not, but wondering if MS could possibly search the waitlist to discover it. Just a thought I had for those waitlisting for Christmas week or any other busy time.

No, and in a way, it wouldn't be fair.

Say that member "A" gets on a waitlist for a studio at BCV, but has no reservation elsewhere. Later member "B" has a room at BWV, but wants BCV. And even later, member "C" has a room at BCV, but decides a few months later that they'd really like BWV.

Under your proposal, members "B" & "C" would switch reservations, but "A" would have been waiting longer for the BCV room, and would have been bumped by "B"

I think it's unfair because a ressie somewhere, shouldn't guarantee you a ressie someplace else. If you want to be at the other place, then get in line like others have to. Or, I suppose that people, if they knew each other and trusted what would happen, could just change the names on the ressies, that could be a way to get around the waitlist, line. Other than just switching names I do not think that MS should be a partner in people switching resorts like it is described.

I actually asked about this the other day with Member services... the computer doesn't automatically do this. And they don't have anyone specifically assigned to do this either.

To me this seems like a giant game of tetris... trying to get all the blocks in the right place...

It would be a interesting problem to solve...

Members could post their current reservation and their waitlist request. If they find a match they could contact each other by PM and make their changes together through MS.

I actually had this idea earlier, but didn't know if anyone would be interested until I saw this thread.

That would fall under the control of the rent/trade board. And in fact, there may already be a way to post trades wanted over there.

I really see a problem if DVC did those types of trades directly. People would book their home resort at 11 months out, expecting to be able to trade, and possibly locking out other owners at that resort that want to book 11 month out wanting to stay there. It would circumvent, wrongly IMO, the whole concept of the 11/7 window.
