Does the staff really check to see how many are in your room?

We are going to the Poly this Nov. There are 5 of us and I know that is ok, but it is really costing us a fortune this time. There is me, my husband, my 6 year old, and 3 year old twins. I have been wondering if next spring when we go if we could stay at an allstar and save money. I don't see us getting 2 rooms because my kids are so little all 3 fit in one bed. We went last spring and stayed off site and it worked out ok. I have heard some people saying it matters, some people saying it doesn't matter. I just want some advice that will help me make up my mind on this.

Hi..

The Poly has queensize beds where the Allstars have double beds.

Next year you will have a 7 year old and 2 ~ 4 year olds to fit in a double? that might be a bit tight... I suppose one could sleep on a inflatable mattress on the floor.

I really don't know what to say about having extra people in over the room limit... I imagine if they found out they may charge you extra for the 5th person but I doubt they would throw you out of the resort or make you take two rooms.

Maybe you would be better at Port Orleans with one of the rooms that take 5 people (trundle bed)

You want to relax and have a good time on holidays not worry about breaking the firecode rules. Have fun at the Poly!

I don't know about the "rule", but why don't you visit an all stars this trip. I'm sure a CM would show you a room if one is empty. It would help you decide if this room is large enough. Maybe, you could get 2 all star rooms instead of 1 deluxe.

Good luck & enjoy your trip!

I was also going to suggestion the Riverside Resort for the trundle bed.

Never had anyone check, maybe housekeeping keeps a watch??

You would not be able to get a resort I.D. for the extra person. This past trip they had someone out at EMH at AK telling everyone to have resort I.D.'s out for all members of their party to enter. It was the first time I had to do that.

You'll get responses like 'There are fire code issues, yada, yada, yada'. For me personally, the question becomes one of ethics and morality more than whether or not Disney would find out or object.

If I did something like that, my car would get stolen, I'd break my leg and my wife would leave me and stick me with the bills. I've got the 'What goes around comes around about 10 times worse than what went around the first time' syndrome. In other words, the money I would save NOW would cost me about a gozillion dollars in the near future.

:)

Hope this helps!

We stayed at the Allstar Movies when it first opened and we had 2 rooms and was able to get them with a connecting inner room door.

ROFL!!! This is the same philosophy that keeps me on the right side of the rules, I think!

In answer to your question, you probably wouldn't get busted. But I'd consider PO/Riverside if I were you. Then you don't have to worry about getting busted, and there is enough room for everyone. You five really will be cramped in the AS, even if the kids are small. For a little more (hopefully there will be discounts in the spring) you could do POR, have a lot more space, a waterslide, and you'd be legit.

There was someone who posted about this very issue a while back..

there was 5 of them checking into Allstar so they sent the oldest child to sit alone in the lobby while the mom and dad and 2 older kids checked in.... meanwhile, the oldest kid went to the washroom and ended up getting his finger caught in the door hinge and was bleeding... someone helped him and brought him out to the lobby to find his parents (still checking in) and they were busted. :p

Murphy's Law

I've always had a big question about the assumption that "sleeps 4" is an absolute rule (or even, a moral law). Many many many hotels have rooms that sleep 4, because they have 2 double beds. Yet, the same hotel will let you have a roll away bed. In a small room, we would rather have a kid sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor than take up precious space with a roll away. Obviously it can't be a fire code thing, or they wouldn't provide a roll away.

Are the laws different in the World? Do they really forbid roll away beds?

When I asked CRO about a rollaway at Allstar Sports they said "there just isn't room for one in the room." Do they provide roll aways at the Allstar resorts?

I would also suggest POR or renting DVC points! The other alternative would be Dolphin ~ they have that great $129 rate for teachers/military/nurses.

TTFN!

And if you rent DVC points, you will have to get a two bedroom unit with five persons. A one bedroom only hold 4 persons plus one under 3 yrs old. You get bedding/towels/etc for four only. And don't even start that one on the DVC board!

OMG... Just remember never to do it on a Friday 13th...

Many single friends of mine bring back "guests" they pick up for the night here and there... Nobody came to check who it was.

If Disney is too busy to check IDs at the resort stops and allow non-resort guests to enjoy freebie rides and early entrance to the parks, if they are just too busy to offer front of the line privileges and pamper resort guests yet more than they do, I see no reason to go room to room confirming the number of guests.

Psst: They're too busy to come... ;)

We visited the All Stars last month and the rooms are really small. I don't think you could fit 5 in if you wanted to. We had 5 (2 small kids, one older one, me and my husband) in a studio at BCV. Then we moved over to CB for two nights. We were fine at BCV, but a tad more crowded at CB. I could not imagine trying to fit in at All Stars.

If money is an issue, why not stay offsite in something much larger? I would not enjoy my vacation nearly as much as I could if I was not totally happy with my accommodations. Offsite with a better room would be better for me than onsite with too small of a room.

Pam

Although rules are rules...I disagree about it being fire code rules. If one of your kids are under 3, you can have five in a room. We did that for 3 years. We only slept in the room, and didn't find it too crowded. We had a portacrib the first two years, and both kids slept with their mom in the double bed the last year. I have seen rollaways in AllStars (they don't promise they have enough) for people who have four in a room and the two kids are a boy and girl. The table has to be moved to another area accomodate it. The biggest problem for us, was that the AS's only has one sink, where POR has two. A real time saver in the morning.

Actually we fit 3 adults and 2 kids(1 under 3, in a crib) in a room at ASMO and had no problem with space.

What is "EMH" at AKL? Do kids also have to show resort ID's?

I'm sorry I will have to edit, it was at AK not AKL(my next trip is on the brain). EMH is extra magic hour or early entry. Yes, kids get resort I.D.'s and the CM said please have resort I.D.'s out for all memebers of your party and the CM at the gate checked them all. Like I said it was the first time I had to do it, but I had heard that they have been doing it more and more.:D
