Does the castle look pink on anyone's TV?

Tell me it's just the color on my TV and they're not painting the castle pink. The entire top half looks very pink to me.

Say it isn't so.

Must be your TV. It now has a very light brownish tint to it, but trust me, it looks good in person.

Unless you are talking about the Disneyland castle which in that case, yes, it's pink.

No, I know the Disneyland castle is pink.

Ugh - Why don't they just leave the castle alone? Right now, it looks like it's 2different colors.

This has been discussed on many threads since they started removing the HCoE icons from the castle.

They have, indeed, been repainting the WDW MK castle for weeks (that's why the crane was still there long after the icons had been removed.)

The castle is two (or more) colors now.

It is designed to make the textures look like more "authentic" to real castles.

The beige tone could show up with a "pinkish" cast on some video screens if the techs adjust the cameras for "minus-blue" for outdoor shooting.
Speaking as a long-time video producer, most folks' sets at home are misadjusted just enough that the colors never look "exactly right" on any scene.

In person, (I just got back) it looks very nice and it is so subtle a difference that most folks simply can't tell it looks any different without someone pointing it out.

But, hey, we all love to make a "big deal" out of anything at all that Disney does to any part of any park, so have at it. ;)

We're at Disney World thru January 3rd.

The castle looks beautiful. It doesn't look pink to me at all.

I'm all for them painting it to spruce it up a bit. Is the end result supposed to be a castle that is all 1 color?

It looked pink to me and my father didn't see it. So I went and got a sheet of vanilla bazzill(scrapbook cardstock) it's a light brown with a little bit of pink in it, and it matched perfectly. I'll see what it looks like in person in just 4 short days(which will feel like a month)

No, it is not supposed to be all one color.

I was there 2 weeks ago and it was cloudy both times I was at the MK. I sure hope the castle looks better in the sunshine. It looked a lot darker and really dreary looking with the clouds and overcast. I was not impressed at all!

We took the Keys to the Kingdom tour last Thursday and our tour guide told us the color of the castle was being changed from grey to a "beige/peachy" color on the recommendation from Kodak. Apparently Kodak advises Disney on the best colors for the guests photos. Kodak also recommended the reddish brown color of the walkways as being the most flattering to most skin tones.
This was a very interesting tour I would recommend to anyone who loves Disney!

I just watched my recording (Tivo) of the WDW Christmas Parade show and the WDW Castle did not look pink during the program (I paid special attention to it every time it was shown.)

The only time it might have seemed a bit pink was during the final number with Michael Bolton.

I noticed that on the "crane camera" shooting stage left (our right) that portions of the castle were a bit less white than the rest of the show.

Cameras must be carefully white-balanced and then matched together before a shoot and they may have had a slight miss-adjustment on that particular camera for that scene.

Otherwise, the upper portion (turrets) looked nearly white, much brighter than the grey-toned "stones" of the lower section. A few of the sections just above the lower "stones" appeared a deeper beige, but that's about it.

Many TV sets come from the factory (and out of the box) with the contrast set too high and the color set too vivid.

Many TV sets incorrectly and incorrigibly have reds slightly accentuated, the reason is to make skin tones look a little more pleasing.

TV sets can be calibrated more or less using test pattern DVD's, one is called AVIA.

"Regular" picture tube TV's and plasma TV's and also projection TV's using CRT's (light cannons, guns) should have the contrast kept below halfway (below a third of the way up for projection) to prolong their life, notably prevent permanent shadows where bright or vivid content such as stock tickers, "MUTE", or some video game outlines appear in the same places.
