Does SSR have a restaurant?

It isn't really a food court either, but kind of an upscale deli counter. There are no restaurants at the resort because DTD is just across the way, and there are lots of dining choices there.

I'm not sure what I would call it....not restaurant.... :confused3 not food court.... :confused3 deli counter is more like it (good answer dianeschlicht)...... the food....my family DID NOT like it at all. :faint:

They are actually cheaper to me (or at least in line with) most other counter service places throughout WDW.

There are small children's items, but most of the older kids (so I have been told) really like the flatbread pizza type items.

Isnt there also a bar at SSR that serves food? It is adults only all the time or does it serve anyone until a certain part of the day?

SSR not having an onsite sit down restaurant is something many are not happy about. Others that have stayed at SSR have loved it. The atmosphere is actually quite nice in that area and I think my sons were very comfortable there (which for me is a HUGE consideration). Rumor is that Disney didn't want SSR competing with DTD for food, but there are also rumors floating around that there WILL be a restaurant built once the complex is completed. I mean, have you TRIED to get into a DTD restaurant with a PS at dinner time? ack!

My dw and I just returned, and we really enjoyed the Artist Pallete, very quiet, the tables are away from the food area, wich I like. I thought the prices and portions for disney were very good. and the food was really good

I see it has a food court, but I can't seem to find the restaurant. Help, please? :earsboy:

Deli is a great description. The menu posted is the "official" menu. You can modify and make requests. It is very quick and convenient. The food is actually very good. Do your self a favor and give it a try. Plus you get a DVC discount!

I've enjoyed every meal I've had at SSR's food court.

Me too and was so glad to see some choices for the more health concious diners.

As I have posted before the lack of on site dining at SSR makes us hesitate to stay there and made us not want to buy there. Yes, I know DTD is close and we really love DTD, but I'd hate to HAVE to go there to eat all the time.

I really think the resort itself looks very pretty. I like the themeing. However, we don't cook on vacation-not even breakfast. When we stay at an Epcot resort we have so many choices close by for a sit down breakfast. Also, after a long day at the parks, we'd like to be able to come back to the resort and have a nice sit down dinner. The waits, even with PS's, at DTD can get out of hand sometimes. Also, we'd have to walk over there, which would take more time. I know it's not a big deal to some but with 3 kids, sometimes we just want to get back to the resort and walk into a restaurant and eat. :) The food seems okay at SSR, just very limited. I woudn't want to eat it every day. Also, my kids would not be crazy about it

I really don't understand why people don't like that menu. It has such a nice change of pace - don't people get tired of burgers/dogs/chicken fingers?
The menu is actually bigger than the one at the new Beach Club marketplace.
We really enjoyed the food there.

The food there is pretty good, and healthier (allegedly) than the usual burger/hot dog/chicken finger stuff you usually find.

The restaurant that was there in the Disney Institue days was REALLY good (unfortunately, I can't even remember the name), and I do wish they had kept it.

I'm hopeful that a full service restaurant will appear there someday. True, DTD is just across the pond, but you can't walk there very quickly & it is usually packed @ meal time.

Basically, NO they do not have one.

I have eaten there, once, and although I'm open minded enough to be staying there later this month, there is NO chance I'll be "eating" there.

Pre-staying there, IMHO, this is the single biggest lacking point of the "deluxe" resort.

Sadly, my kids do not tire of these foods!

I really liked the atmosphere. I loved the lighting fixtures and the kids loved the easels with drawing paper. BUT, we spent one afternoon at the pool. We had planned on running in to get a quick meal and then heading on back to the pool again. My 8 yr old tried the flatbread pizza (which looked pretty good) but it was not for her. My 6 year old daughter has restricted dietary needs (gluten free-no wheat or most grains, and casien free-no milk or milk protein). She was hoping for a burger without a bun. None available. A cast member explained to her that the menu reflected the healthy food style of the original Saratoga Springs spa era. This explanation was lost on her.

So on our last day (when we planned on just hanging out at SSR until it was time to leave), we instead had to head to DTD for some lunch. Of course as we got there the skies opened and we were soaked from the rain. Our Disney ponchos were safely packed in our luggage at bell services. I had to run into a DTD store and buy some more.

I think the menu selections at SSR are fine but it is a family resort and adding some kid friendly items might not be a bad idea.

We were at SSR from 6/2 yo 6/7 and we had breakfast there twice and dinner on our last day. Granted we do not have little ones, but we did have 2 picky eaters with us, and we all found something we wanted and enjoyed. I like the Chef's specials that they have on a daily basis.

The roasted veggie sandwich and flatbread are sooo yummy and my 5 year old daughter tore up the cheese flatbread!
Oh, and breakfast is very good. The Breakfast flatbread has eggs, cheese and bacon and then sausage gravy on the bottom.
They have a dinner special every night. I got the cheese stuffed meatloaf and it was awesome!
My daughter, who is not picky at all, loved everything she had there including corn chowder. My picky son would be able to find a couple of things, but the good thing about picky eaters is they tend not to get bored with the same stuff over and over-or at least my son!
