Does Southwest still allow extensions for credit?

We have almost $200 in SW credits that expire in early Feb. We can't use them, but can we pay to have the date of expiration extended to April??? TIA

I am not a SW traveler but from past posts I think it was $50 per original ticket/reservation. So if your SW credits was based on 4 tickets at $50 each, the extension would wipe out your credit completely. Two tickets would leave $100 total.

This is correct. It really depends on how many tickets comprise the 200 you have left. If it originally was for 4 or more tickets, not worth extending.

Thank you. Does anyone know if I have to call SW, or can this be done online?

I would also like to know if I need to call.

Also, I have 250.00 in credit (5 tix). My SIL wants to fly out here for her Bday around Jan 21st. Unfortunately my credit expires Jan 13th!! I've priced it and the total was 209.00 round trip. So if I'm understanding correctly, they will charge 50.00 to extend the 1 week and I will be left with 200.00 credit. Is this correct? That would work because we would only have to pay 9.00 difference.

Will I have any problems putting the ticket in her name?

TIA!!:goodvibes

I think from what others have said, you would be charged $250 to extend the credit on each of those 5 tix. Is that correct?

I'm not sure. I only want to buy 1 ticket tho. Boy, if that's the case, she needs to come out before Jan. 13th!!

I probably need to call SW, maybe they'll work with me since its only a week, not months.:confused3

The issue is not how many tickets you want to buy, but how many tickets the credit(s) came from.

Yes as stated above it's 50 per ticket to extend, so that is 250 for your credit, which makes it useless to extend. Also, the other issue i that you can only use 3 credits per ticket. Considering you have 5 in your 250, your max credit before they expire is 150. Also, all travel has to be completed by Jan 13th, meaning your SIL has to return home on the 13th.

Just got off the phone with a supervisor at their customer service number--(214) 792-4223. He assured me that it would be only 50.00 total to extend my credit. He told me more than once I would have 200.00 left over. I have 1 conf# for the 5 tix, so maybe that's why. He also said to call back starting Jan. 14th (since it expires Jan 13). He said you have up to 6 months after expiration to call!! And then they will extend it for another 6 months, so make sure you call at the appropriate time for you plans. He gave me a SR# (service request#) for when I call back. He said it takes 7-10 days to get the extension voucher in the mail, so keep that in mind.

Just wanted to share this information.

Wow, good to know. I will call to ask about the extension. We have $104 in credit. With the $50 charge, that would leave $54. Not much, but it's better than losing all $104.
