Does Soarin' bother those with Motion Sickness?

Soarin' is a smooth ride, no jerking around or spinning of any sort. My poor DBF can't do any simulators or spinning rides. He won't even ride the carousel. He road Soarin' and did fine. He was a little dizzy once it ended but not sick to his stomach. We walked out of the pavillion slowly and he was fine by the time we exited. My mother has vertigo and road Soarin'. She also did fine and would ride it again. I cannot ride most simulators without feeling horrible nauseous during and after. But I tried Soarin' and it did not bother me one bit. You don't really move much during the ride, only slightly swaying side to side sometimes or tipping foward and back a little. I personally recommend at least trying it once. As far as simulators go, it is very gentle.

DH can't do certain rides like Star Tours and round and round rides but had no problem with Soarin'.

I absolutely hate heights and won't go near anything that spins but I loved this ride. There was only one point when I closed my eyes and that was after the aircraft carrier but it was only for a couple of seconds.

I think if someone suffers on Star Tours then they will on Soarin'

I don't agree with this at all. I can tolerate Star Tours, but only once and only if I haven't eaten recently. And if it were 10 seconds longer I'd be in big trouble. But I LOVED Soarin' and it didn't make me queasy at all. The ride itself doesn't move much at all, so closing your eyes should make you feel better if you did have a problem.

I did Star Tours once and won't partake again  . Soarin' is nothing like Star Tours for me. There is a moment or two that I might start to feel funny, but as so many others have said, you can just close your eyes for this ride (unlike MS, Star Tours, etc.) for a few moments. Don't miss this ride!

THANKS everyone! I will let him know that there were all positive responses from those just like him!! We will have to try it!

I get very motion sick. I've ridden on it a few times. I don't have any problems until the glider turns. I close my eyes every so often if I get dizzy.

I can't do the movies, Soarin, Star tours or anything like that without the mothion sickness thing. Solution: Take something for motion sickness, like Bonine. It works every time and doesn't cause sleepiness.

My DH is very sensitive to motion sickness. He can't do Star Tours without being sick and I kind of thought that Soarin might be similar to that. Can anyone share their experiences? Thanks
Laura

It makes me really sick...and I'm not generally sick on rides. I can do Star Tours just fine, but Soar'n makes me dizzy!

I've ridden Soarin over California at DCA a half dozen times or so and never had a problem. FWIW, I can't read in the car, I couldn't sit through Blair Witch Project, can't play 1st person video games, and certainly can't handle teacups, LOL. If he starts to feel funny I believe closing his eyes will help as there really isn't that much motion at all. Have fun!
