does size really matter?

hey just got off the phone to my friend she has decided that she gonna come to disney land with us and her little one ( 6 months old) but she is really panicin about the rides as she is a size 24 and think she wont fit..now if u saw her she dont look like a size 24 she a volumptous girl. now im trying to tell her that its fine but tbh i dont know as i never been to disney ..anyone size 20's plus on here who could shed a bit of light ? xx

There was a thread about this a while ago - tell your friend not to worry. I'm a size 22( a size 0 on the inside really there's just several of them!) and I've never had any trouble. My DF went with us on our last trip in Auguast and she's 5foot 9 and a size 26 - she managed the rides with no problem. The only ride that could be a problem is crusher's coaster but that's due more to the way the harness works than anything.

Tell your friend to worry - there are all shapes and sizes at DLP - she's just got to remeber to have fun !

Im a size 24 and have no problems with DLP at all. I haven't been brave enough to queue up for Crush yet as I wouldn't want to get to the front and not be able to get on, so I just bypass that one for now.

I really think they need test seats @ dlrp, I've seen someone get turned away from crush and we'd queued for like an hour and a half! I really hope the poor person got a fastpass or something for their troubles!

I found the seats in Cars a bit of a squash but there was 2 of us in the back and we're both undertall for our weight!

I do recall seeing something on another coaster about 'certain body sizes/shapes' might not be able to ride - might have been the Aerosmith one?? I think they are the only ones that may cause an issue and it's to do with the harness as someone has said - it has to get down close enough to lock IYSWIM...

thanks for you help guys and girls. i just didnt want her to be embarrased or anything as she has such low cofidence after piling on 5 dress sizes after being pregnant and her husband leaving her for a skinnier model .
so can u just give me a list of all the rides where she will have no problems what so ever and rides which may cause a problem just so i can put it on a list

I don't have a problem with RnR, the over head harness clicks down until it stops, never had a problem with and it always fits fine. Big Thunder mountain again is fine, hubby and I are both "pooh" shaped and can get into one carridge. Indiana Jones is fine, again we can fit in a carraige together.

Ummm, im just trying to think of the bigger rides that might have restrictions. I don't think there are any more. I know at Disney Dumbo and Orbitron are a little tight for us pooh shaped people but i've never tried them and aren't sure if they have them at Disney.

I wouldn't worry her with a list of what she can and can't do. Just let her wander round and get comfortable with everything first, then she can assess for herself whether she wants to go on or not.

She will be fine, just tell her to relax and enjoy

I think it's cool that you care so much about your friend. The important thing to remember is that it's Disneyland, one of the few places in the world where it doesn't matter how old you are or what you look like. When you step through those magic gates, you are guaranteed a wonderful time! Just relax and enjoy yourselves!

lol dont worry i would never produce a list to show her just so i know in my head which ones i can get really excited over so she gets excited to ...and i have a rather big butt as well so its good for me to know as well lol...tbh im not worried about my bum more like my ****s

I have researched this matter thoroughly over the last few weeks as being a bigger bloke i am also worried about fitting into the rides for my upcoming trip.


I have come to the conclusion that as long as you are not very very large i.e 30 stone plus there shouldnt be a problem with any of the "main" rides..

When i say main i mean the roller coasters such as Big Thunder mountain, indiana jones, space mountain , Rock and Roll Coaster etc

The only one that seems to be the exception is Crush becuase of the unique restraint!!!

I am therefore deciding to skip this one but will be queuing up for the "overhead" restraint ones such as R&R and indian jones.

I have been scouring these forums and also looking at the ones for the american disney parks too.

I am led to believe that the machines are made by the same manufacturer so i am guessing that they are the same dimensions.

The link below is to a very useful website that people "of size" have posted with their experiences at the american disney parks.

But i think that indiana jones and crush are exclusively DLRP machines.

that is a fabulous report - that will def put anyones mind at rest with a few love handles , but i can def see how panicky people get with regard to their sizes and rides its a shame disney dont put something on their website about it just to put everyones mind at rest thank u so much to everyone who has helped
