On our June 2001 cruise on the Magic there was no package available. I sure wish they had as that would have left me with more money to spend elsewhere!! They sure do take great pictures and I think we only left one. We just kept going back each day to see what they had taken that day and they always had some great ones on the DD and DS so of course we couldn't pass them up. Just allow some extra cash for this and you should be O.K.;)

Thanks Patches. How much is each picture and how many did you purchase (need ideas for $$ budgeting). Thanks!

On the Magic 1/12 Shutters offered 3 packages: 5 photos, for slightly less than the regular 9.95; 10 pictures for about $84, and 15 for slightly less than8.40 per picture. You could upgrade or downgrade at any time during the cruise. I was given a small business size card which they punched each time I got a picture. These were only for the 6 X 8 candids, not the posed formal portraits. i got the 10 picture deal, and then had to scramble the last days to get our picture taken enough to get the 10, ended up buying 11 6 X 8s and one formal picture for 19.95.

On our recent cruise they had a few package offers. Five 6x8's for 45 (save $5) - there was also one for buying 8 and 10 pictures, but I can't remember the prices.

I don't really care for the Shutters set up myself. They don't save your pictures all week (I tried the stacking & mine got pitched), so you have to buy pictures that you aren't totally in love with, or risk them getting thrown away & having nothing down the road. Since this was my first cruise, I didn't know how things worked. Now I realize that character sightings are pretty frequent & if one picture didn't turn out, there is a good chance of getting another before the cruise is over. I bought a picture of my son early in the week with Pluto that wasn't the best picture. My son had an odd smile, but he loves Pluto & I didn't want to take the chance of not getting a picture of the two together. Later in the week, there was a picture of my son with the same character & it was 100 times better than the first picture. I asked if I could swap it & they said no. I said ok, but was really disappointed. The castmembers weren't real happy about me asking the question either. Seems they probably get asked it a lot. The next night, I went back in & asked another castmember about swapping & he said I could if it were a "character to character" swap.

Thanks for the prompt replies!!! I guess I had better budget between $50 - $100 for pictures. I am a sucker for a great photo. I will probably take my own pictures of the kids with the characters, but would like some group shots when we are all dressed up :)

from our 1/17 3-day wonder navigator

6x8 photo package

5 photos $44.95 (save $5.00)
10 photos $84.95 (save $15.00)
15 photos $119.95 (save 30.00)

8/10 Packages also available

IS THE PACKAGE DEAL SOMETHING NEW THEY HAVE ADDED TO THIS YEAR CRUISES:confused: IF THEY HAD THEM ON THE JUNE CRUISE I WAS NOT AWARE OF IT. AS FOR THEM KEEPING THE PICTURES ALL WEEK WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH THIS BUT IT DID SEEM THAT THEY MOVED THEM AROUND SOME AND SOME WERE BEHIND OTHERS, LIKE WITH CHARACTERS THEY WOULD BUNCH THEM UP SO YOU WOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH THEM TO FIND YOURS. :smooth:

So does this mean that ALL *formal* pics are ALL 19.95?? I really didn't want 8x10's but will maybe have to settle for them anyway.
Candids are nice but I really wanted a couple of formal shots and didn't really want 8x10's though. I wish the package was kind of a mix and match, like an 8x10 counts for 2-6x8's, because I was going to get the 10 picture pkg, but not if formals don't count. I suppose that mix and match won't happen though, does anyone know??

This is one thing I didn't like about Shutters. They were quite unflexible. They won't let a formal 8 x 10 count as 2 6 x 8's. I didn't like how formals were so large. There were a few that I liked, and probably would've purchased if they weren't 8 x 10's. 8 x 10's, I'm sure, are great for those people that have 10 people in the pictures however, but for us, they were just too big.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned yet, that they give you a punch card & each time you purchase a picture, they punch the card. THat way you can purchase them throughout the cruise & not all at once.

Did I read on an earlier thread that you can request Shutters set up a folder for you at the beginning of the cruise so you don't have to weed through all the other pictures? Maybe I dreamt it!!

Has anyone else heard that Shutters might set up a family
folder for all the photo's taken (as posted by SeaShelly?)
I'd love info on this.

We've been on 10 cruises, and one of the hardest things
is trying to save the "OK" pics (without buying YET), because you don't know what may come in the next day that is TERRIFIC....
Also, I need the 8x10 packages.... annoyed the grandparents
to no end because I did not buy them dd's school picture this year (yucko smile). I want to "sit" Rachel for portraits as many
times as she'll allow... just to get us back in the wills... LOL!!

When we cruised last Feb, the great people in Shutters did set up a family folder for us. We just happened to ask, and they said they would do this. If I remember correctly, they label by your room #. We are hoping they will do this while we are on our cruise this Feb. Has anyone else had this experience????

Wow, I never thought of asking them to set up a folder. With 11 of us we'll want to be watchful of pictures of us. But, won't want to just buy the first one that comes along. The pictures we had taken 2/2000 were phenomenal! We have them around our house - they're such great pics and awesome reminders. I'm sure to ask them for a folder when we get there!

I remember reading awhile ago about a deal from shutters that wasn't announced till the last day or so of the cruise. Something free with purchase.

Also, what is their charge for developing 35mm. I found on Carnival it wasn't much more than at home, they gave you a free roll of film and it was easy!

On our cruise, there was an additional "deal" for 8x10 photos. If you purchased 4 formal photos, they threw in one photo album complete with your choice of an 8x10 ship photo.

We ended up buying the 4 8x10's for $80. We started with the 5 6x8 photo deal for $45 and ended up upgrading to the 10 photo deal for an additional $40. We too had to scramble to find enough 6x8 photos and ended up buying two shots of the ship. So the photo packages didn't end up saving us anything, but it was convenient to just go to Shutters and have them punch your card whenever you wanted to pickup a photo.

We ended up spending $165 on photos for the 5 of us.

I believe all the formal pics were 8x10. I would have liked for the option to get them at the smaller size, though. I bought the 6x8 package .. and ended up popping another $19.95 for one formal pic.
