Santa wraps his gifts in "Santa" wrapping paper, and mom & dad wrap in other paper.

Santa doesn't wrap presents here. We unwrap presents on Christmas Eve and the only things under the tree Christmas morning are Santa's unwrapped presents.

This will be the first Christmas since "the secret" was figured out. Santa will still be leaving a few things under the tree anyway.

If things weren't wrapped then the kids would sneak down see what they got before we got up then I would miss there faces when they got something they really wanted.

Wrapped is so much more organized and I can be ready with the camera too if I see him go to open something that is really high on his list.

Heck sometimes we even hide a present or two so if something goes with another they don't open one first. Like when we got our Wii last year if they opened a game first it wrecked the surprise of the Wii itself.

Santa wraps, we wrap , the elves wrap, the yard animals wrap, even the dog wraps (obviously its all me and the dh)we have a RIOT Christmas morning with all the funny "to/from tags" "from" everyone. Meanwhile, it is just the three of us being typical crazy as usual!
I LOVE this time of year!!!

Does Santa Wrap Gifts?

Sure he does, Santa is multi-talented!:santa:

Nope- no wrapping.

Dh grew up with santa having his presents wrapped. I grew up coming downstairs to a magical toy land of presents unwrapped, sitting there, ready for playing.

There is something completely magical from a child's perspective of walking into the room and seeing all of those toys, sitting there, knowing that each one is for them alone. Kind of like having a small FAO Schwartz all to yourself. :goodvibes

Our mornings are not filled with ripping paper and having it over and done with in two minutes-- the "Hurry up and open this present, set it aside, grab another one, I don't care what it is, just give it to me."
The morning is actually very peaceful and they love it.

So they definitely are not lacking in the opening present department.;)

Wow, can't say that we have ever had a "hurry up and open it christmas"..we give out gifts one at a time..my daughter opens one and then she hands one to someone else to open....no big giant rush over in 2 minutes-----that is how I feel about UNWRAPPED gifts---walk into the room- see the gifts and that is that-over with--nothing really magical about seeing a bunch of unwrapped toys....to us its magical unwrapping each one and seeing the surprise inside!

We do one at a time, in a circle, it takes a while, and we take a break to eat occasionally also. We have everything, including the stockings wrapped too and I always thought the same as you aprilgail, you walk into the room full of unwrapped gifts and you see it at once and the surprise it over, it can't be drawn out. Plus what happens if the child goes downstairs before you wake up, then you don't get to see their reaction at all as everything is unwrapped?

When I was a child I grew up in a house that didn't wrap. Now we're in the wrap all the gifts category, except for things that are just impossible to wrap without using three or four rolls of paper. So I've seen it from both perspectives. And both work as long as you do it in a controlled manner.

Santa wraps in paper to match the stockings. Each child has a different colored stocking, and the color of the paper on his presents matches the color of his stocking. They get separate wrapped presents from Mom and Dad.

Instead of using regular wrapping paper, my brother uses newspaper because we're trying to save the environment. :lmao:

Last year, he ran out. He ended up using a blanket on my mom's box of pots and pans.

Santa wraps the presents he leaves at our house too, and his paper is different from what our presents are wrapped in.

Santa wraps everything- I would rather santa get all the credit for the short time they still believe. Soon enough she knew who really bought all the stuff all those years, I don't need "credit". Its the most fun for us getting up Christmas morning to a tree full of wrapped gifts and then each unwrapping them one by one! I think it would really suck for us to wake up and go in the living room and have all the toys sitting there unwrapped.

I agree. All presents were and still are wrapped. The tag has the childs name on it and no "from" so all gifts are technically Santa gifts even though my kids are way older now. I think it would be pretty depressing to come downstairs and see nothing wrapped...:confused3 even as an adult. We take our time opening gifts, even when they were little gift wrapping was not over with in 2 or 3 minutes.

I remember my first Christmas with my husband before we were married. My future MIL handed me my present unwrapped....I was stunned. I never knew that people did not wrap all presents. My Mom still wraps and put bows and ribbons and decorations on every present and the tags still say from Santa.

growing up, all the gifts were wrapped...Santa had special paper....when I had kids I wanted to change it up and Santas gifts are not wrapped....since my kids are young, it has been a bit easy with bikes, kitchens etc, but now things like dsi games etc....just don't seem to have that WOW factor lying there unwrapped.....

as far as big things like bikes, what we usually do is either cover them with a blanket and put a bow on it, or wrap up a box with a brick or something in it and a note saying to go to the neighbors, or the basement or something, and it works out well that way.

Nope, Santa stays up until the wee hours of the morning fighting with those stupid plastic twisty ties pulling every present out, assembling it and leaving it beautifully posed and ready for playing.

:lmao: Those stupid plastic twisty ties at 3 AM is the very reason Santa started wrapping everything at our house. At least then they can be untwisted by a better rested Mom the next morning.

Don't you sometimes wonder what the heck they expect to happen to those toys? There was some comedian one time that was comparing how a supposedly well made, unbreakable toy was packaged to how a glass light bulb is packaged. It was so true and so funny!!

Santa leaves a very few things unwrapped (like dd's bean bag chair last year) but wraps almost everything else.

Santa's only bringing one gift this year, and if the box isn't too large to wrap, it will be wrapped.

(Shhh...it's an HD TV. It'll be the biggest one Santa can find with a budget of $250-$300.)

I heard on the radio the other day that a black Friday ad had been leaked regarding a sale at Target. They said that a very large HD TV will be on sale for less than $300. I can't remember the details though.

Like C.ann our unwrapping goes a long time. We've been known to stop 1/2 way through....have breakfast and then return. Granted w/ ds getting older and the gifts getting pricier the pile has gone down a lot. Maybe the amount of gifts is overkill, but my memories of Christmas morning as an adult w/ ds are some of my favorite.

Oh yes - we do the "breaks" too.. Coffee; cinnamon buns; etc. - then the full breakfast (okay - maybe it's "lunch time" by then) when all is done..:rotfl:

DGD passes out the gifts - and of course we have to get those priceless photos when each person opens that spectacular gift that they never expected to receive! :thumbsup2

Last year mine was a 4 gallon hot water heater for here at the lake.. What can I say? It was from my Dson-in-law.. He LOVES Home Depot..LOL....

yes Santa and or his elves wrap his gifts but he has has different paper

this year he's bringing these really cool RC cars that flip all over the place and has lights so they will be really cool in the dark. :)

i know this because he emailed me to ask what colours would be best :)

he's bringing one for Cassie, Daddy and Mummy so we can all have fun.

and he'll put small unwrapped gifts in the stockings that can be opened before everyone gets up after all that's what we did as kids.

Merry Christmas everyone

Santa wraps gifts in special Santa paper that is kept hidden and never used for any other gifts.

Very small stocking stuffers are not wrapped, everything else in the stocking (or under it) is wrapped :santa:
