Does resale have to have same UY as current contract?

If i am looking at a resale, does it have to have my same use year? Or can I find one with a separate use year? Thanks in advance.

It has to be the same UY AND titled the same way to add it to your current contract to function as one master contract. However, you can buy a different UY or have different owners listed if you want, it'll just function like contracts of two separate owners and the main way to combine points from each contract would be the same as if you and I wanted to do the same thing (transfers, separate but linked). The only exception is they tend to be more flexible on certain rules when it's multiple contracts of a single owner.

No, you can purchase one with a different UY. However, it will be a different membership (so you will have a 2nd membership #) so you won't be able to use the points together for a single night reservation without completing the transfer.

There are a lot of members who do this. I started out this way but realized that having to keep track of things (ie: different banking deadlines, etc.) was more than I wanted so I sold and now own all my BLT points in the same UY.

we are purchasing a resale for the purpose of getting a new UY.

It will mean a different member number and such, but I am willing to live with that!

Select your UY based upon your vacation patterns and try to keep to that UY. Having multiple UY's can be a real pain in the butt.

I would try to find a new contract with the same UY if you can. I was able to buy a VWL with the same UY as my AKV contract, because I wanted to keep the banking deadlines the same.
I title the new contract in just my name rather than the 3 names that the AKV is in, I will have a new member # etc, but I am okay with that as all I want the VWL points for is to stay at the VWL.
I figured keeping track of 2 memberships was easier than keeping track of 2 banking deadlines.
