Does re-sale really take 60 days? How long for you?

I talked to the Timeshare Store today, and we talked about all the details (BTW, the contract we wanted is already pending, so we waiting). I'm still surprised that he says that it takes about 60 days to complete the transaction (allowing for an extra week margin of error, he said). Granted, I've heard of ROFR taking anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month, but still, it seems like a long time to close. (Last house I purchased only took about 3 weeks total!)

Is 60 days a valid number? How long did it take you to close?

TIA!!!

My offer was accepted on 7/3 and we closed on 8/12. This was through TTS.

Here's the timeline of our recent transaction:

5/18 Signed contract & sent deposit.

5/31 Notified we passed ROFR

6/10 Signed final agreements and sent balance of money.

6/14 Closing completed.

6/15 Deed recorded at Orange County Comptroller

6/22 Confirmed with MS that I'm in the system and points are available to use.

The variables seem to be ROFR (anywhere from one week to the full 30 days), and the time it takes for the seller to send back the signed documents.

Good Luck!

Made offer 3/29/04 made ressie with those points 5/5/04, so not nearly 60 days. Thank heavens, we really wanted to book the cruise.

It's been 2 years since we bought the resale contract, but then it took 6 weeks. It was at DVC for 3 weeks of that time awaiting the ROFR ruling.

For the contracts we've purchased, it's been closer to 45 days. Most recently, we signed the paperwork on 7/29 for a VWL contract, Disney had it 7/30, heard we passed ROFR 8/16, are closing 8/10. What was a killer in our case is that we "won" this contract through e_Bay auction meaning we had to go from June 26-July 27 just waiting for the auction to end!

I made an offer July 20th, should close on Sept. 1. 45 days seems the norm.

It took us less than 4 weeks from our offer, to having our points in Disney's system! 2 weeks of that was waiting for ROFR!
:hyper:

Depending on how quickly you pass ROFR and the sellers returning the paperwork in a timely manner but the entire process can easily take 6 weeks. The good news is, hopefully you'd only have to do it once :p

We closed about a month ago and received the deed recorded letter from Disney, member guidebook and even the actual recorded deed itself from the closing company but no temporary or permanent membership card. I wonder if I should call MS tomorrow and see if they can send me one ASAP?

Made an offer 3 weeks ago, took about 4 days to send in the necessary paper work, and heard from Jaki today that we just passed ROFR! Now all that's left is for us to receive the closing package (Jaki said it should be about a week for us to get it).:D
