Does Pixie Dust Help with Decision-Making? A 2012 PTR! NEW! 6/30 pg.85

I always chuckle during staff meetings when the teachers talk about the kids not paying attention or listening to directions when we aren't listening to a thing the principal is saying. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

:lmao: So true! But the difference there is that when I was teaching my kids, I actually knew what I was talking about and what I was saying to them had value! My principal... not so much! ;)

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: If the shoe fits ..... then you are Cinderella. :rotfl2:

And I get a prince with that, right?

Well said.:worship: I love a place that I can go to and feel safe and entertained. I can go alone or with friends, new or old and feel like I don't have a care in the world. :goodvibes:love:

Feeling safe is a big thing for us, especially because we go on so many girl trips. ::yes::

Well you know what they say...teachers make the worst students!! We are just living up to that LOL!!!!

Teachers are the worst. At workshops and meetings, we squirm in our seats, write notes, take unneeded bathroom breaks just to get out of the room, etc. Some teachers are really bad about sidebar conversations, too. I will say, I don't do that. I'm not just outright rude to the speaker. I pretend I am paying attention and write my conversations on paper. :) Sometimes I'll write some crazy something that I am thinking, and the whole table suddenly falls out laughing while I am totally focused on the teacher. ;) People will be excusing themselves to make it out the door, others will be coughing through their laughs or composing themselves in some way, and I am just sitting there with my pen to the pad ready to take the next notes, acting like I don't have a clue what their problem is. :upsidedow

Troublemaker! ;) YOU were the kid in class that got all the others in trouble!

OKAY GANG......I log on this morning to get all caught up on the FOUR PAGES I have apparently missed on this TR over the past couple days---big mistake.....HUGE!!!! But why Jen you ask? Well I am in EXTREME abdominal pain right now, and spending the past 20 minutes laughing uncontrollably DOES NOT HELP!!!!!! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2::headache::headache::headache::headache::sad2:
I am going to have to go take some more heavy duty drugs to get through this chitter chatter!!!!

But you know, since joining in March 2006 (I think???), I have had the BEST time on the DIS!!! I love this place....it has given me such wonderful DISfriends that I truly cherish, has taught me more than I could have ever imagined about my favorite place, and YES, definitely helped "cajole" me into taking as many trips to WDW as we have taken. I got on here in hopes of renting points for our first stay as our little family of 3 for our September 2006 trip, and haven't left since!!! My dream come true would be to actually get to meet all my lovely DISfriends at some point, but just know this, you are thought of DAILY and sent much love and "pixie dust" from my heart!!!:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

And YES, it is because of all you wonderful people that I am already plotting WHEN we will be buying into DVC...not IF!!! As soon as we get the BIG MOVE taken care of, DVC will be my next "to do!" :rotfl:

Oh and one more thing about us teachers........

I have often heard that you can tell what grade levels teachers teach just by observing their behavior--apparently we "tend" to begin behaving like the children we teach. Well, I am sure there is some truth in this, but my question is what does that say about me if I am moving DOWN to go back to teaching 8th graders from the high schoolers I have taught for the past many years?!?!?!?! ;) Am I "IM-maturing?!?!?!?"

Do you think the fact that I get really annoyed with line cutters goes back to the fact that I teach 2nd grade?

"They cut me" in my best whiney voice.....

I can check if Naveen has dumped Tiana yet. :rotfl2:

Feeling safe is a big thing for us, especially because we go on so many girl trips. ::yes::

::yes:: I can travel alone, be alone at a bus stop or just walk around alone and feel perfectly safe. I even talk to strangers. :lmao:
A very big part of why I love it.

When I go to my annual conference in other cities I am very aware of travelling in groups and don't go out alone. Always looking for the well travelled and well lit route.

Instigator!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2: I have taught teachers and I do agree they exhibit the very behavior they are trying to stop in their classroom. I have had to tease them about it several times.

MegansMom- your post was so great. It is really how I feel about the Dis. I can come here and learn about everyone's lives, talk about my kiddos, and plan more Disney trips!
Your point about teachers is true. My DH is staying home with our kids till they get to school age, but before he was a middle school teacher. He fit right in with his sarcastic attitude. It will be interesting to see what he picks when he goes back to work in a year.

Wonderful start. Loved the pictures of Chelsea and Connor through the years. They grow up so fast!

I have a DISease too. Not sure where I caught it.:confused3

I don't even want to think about what I must act like if Jen is right LOL :rotfl: My freshman are a special brand all to themselves!! I love them dearly but WOW LOL!! Oh well I wouldn't have it any other way I bow down to those teachers who teach younger kids!!!!

So, this is what happens when I step into the hallway to talk to another teacher. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

I just wanted to pop on here and let you know I will be back tomorrow with replies and an update. Last week was crazy with my Monday/Wednesday class and then the last two days of that Friday/Saturday class that ran from 8:00 to 6:00 (at least that one is done now).

In the meantime, if you need a good read, two of our DIS boarders started new reports yesterday that are definitely worth a look-see.

Lady Lallie is heading back to the WORLD!!! I am so excited for her, I can barely stand it!!!

Counting Our Nuts Like Chip & Dale, a Financially Aware PTR!

And Julie, now that she is settled in after her move to Switzerland, has started her TR from Claire's first trip to WDW:

A Whole New WDWorld!

HAPPY READING! (I, on the other hand, will not be "happy reading" -- I have a textbook chapter and an article to finish reading before class this afternoon.)

Great to see you survived another weekend of leadership training. We have had a blast while in have been out in the hall, so hurry back before we get to out of control.

Thanks for the heads up on the new reports.

Hi Ya Jackie!!! I am back on land with the living! I loved that cruise, and I hope you get to do one too! GREAT time!!! But Vero is totally where it is at. WOW SO much fun! So beautiful! I can't wait to share! I am loving all of your "distraction" posts on the DIS and Facebook btw!!! You are a classic GT student who is bored out of her yonkers in a class with a teacher who isn't the slightest bit engaging!!!! Where or where are her diferentiation skills??!!

Keep up the hard work!!! :thumbsup2

Yay for the first update!! I cannot wait to hear about Tybee. I am a little partial to the low country and usually go to Hilton Head. I really am interested in going to Tybee Island soon.
Love the pics of Chelsea and Connor. I cannot believe how they have grown!!

You would love Tybee. We have been to Hilton Head several times, and Tybee has a completely different feel to it. I read somewhere that it is like Key West before the tourists found it, and I would have to agree.

Love all your pictures of Disney over the years. Can't wait to hear about Tybee.

Thanks! I had fun looking through all of them again to choose some for this update.

A vacation destination other than Disney?? :faint: ;). I can see from the first picture that you managed to incorporate some Disney touches on the trip! :thumbsup2

Oh, yes. Disney is never very far from our minds.

On the summer reading list, I just started Summer Rental this past weekend! Great summer book!!

Isn't it? I loved it!!! Made me want to spend a month at the beach!

I requested Summer Rental, thanks for the recommendation. I just finished reading Cinderella Ate My Daughter about the girly girl/princess lifestyle for young girls, it was pretty interesting.

Oh, that sounds interesting! I know I had that girly girl lifestyle growing up. I have been reading The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley. It is very good!

I can NOT believe how little Connor and Chelsea look in the 2008 pictures. My goodness, they are growing up way too fast.

Yes, they are! MY SIL posted a picture of Chelsea and my nephew (who will be a sophomore this year) sitting on the couch in Hilton Head, and I swear they look so old! It was a shocker to me!

I totally have the more trips to Disney phenom thing since joining the DIS. Why do you think I haven't been around as much for the last few months, cause I know I can't afford another trip in 2011. :rotfl: Hopefully January though, here is hoping!

And January is going to happen now! Hurray! Hurray! :woohoo:

I agree, the DISboards probably generate tons of Disney vacations! I know being on here and reading about other people's adventures makes me long to be there even more. I do enjoy seeing other places as well, but it's hard to think about giving up Disney to get to go to those other places - I just need to win the Powerball so that I can do both

Looking forward to hearing about Tybee Island!

It is very hard to give up Disney to go to other places. My newest thing is trying to fit in a Tybee trip AND a Disney trip for next year. LOL!

I TOTALLY agree with you, and I too am afflicted with the DISease! There is just something about the DIS that compels you to book another trip, and another trip, and another trip. It's that feeling that you have when you are standing near a ledge and you just feel like some invisible force is pulling you off the edge! :rotfl: It's DIS gravity! I succombe to it every time! And reading TRs and looking at all the WDW pictures here on the DIS is like having a chocolate cake in the house when you are trying to diet.... no matter how determined you are to resist, eventually you are going to eat it!

:lmao: Yes, I am definitely on that DIS ledge!!!

LOL I think I might know a thing or two about the Joining DIS and More trips syndrome...just maybe :rolleyes1

MY MY how your babies have grown!!!! They are definitely a cute duo though!!!!

Going to put Summer Rental on my list!! Have read through the 3 Kingdom Keepers...need to get the fourth and the Help (LOVED it) can't wait to see the movie!!!! Thanks for another great recommendation!!

Glad you survived and enjoyed your class!!! I made it to Zumba yesterday and it won!! I'm going to try to get back there tonight but I'm having a tough time walking LOL!

My babies just seem to keep growing, too! Before I know it, they will be adults!

Wasn't The Help just fantastic??? Can't wait for the movie, now!

That class is over and done with now. Thank goodness! I just have to put together a portfolio now!

Wow! I love the Chelsea/Connor through the years pics! They are so cute!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I am a member of the DIS enabled more trips syndrome too! I came to the DIS on suggestion of a friend and just started with the main site, discovered the boards and holy moly! It's snowballed from there! I discovered people go back a lot, I found out about DVC, DCL and a bunch of other acronyms.
Not to mention have made some really nice friendships along the way!

Can't wait to hear more about Tybee Island!!

I started out just looking at the regular DIS boards, but then I found the trip reports section...it is certainly all the great friendships I have made that keeps me hanging around!

You are 100% right Jackie! I had been to WDW plenty of times before I joined the Dis but afterwards....that bug bit hard and never let go! As much as I always wanted to, I never thought I would actually go every year!:thumbsup2

Same here, Stacy! LOL!

Your kids look soooo young in those pictures! And I love your "fairest one" t-shirt! Cute!:goodvibes

Thanks! Apparently it is the shirt I always wear when Charles takes pictures. I have more pictures in that shirt than any other. Believe it or not, I do own other clothes. LOL!

Jackie, look what you have started!

There's something wrong with you people.
How in the world can a few hundred pictures make you want to spend thousands of dollars to go back to the same place over and over??? :rolleyes1

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

I am laughing too hard to even come up with a comment.

LOL!!! Good luck with your portfolio!! I wish we lived closer so we could go see that movie together...wouldn't that be fun!!!!

So what's the next class up!!! I am going to email you soon and ask you some questions!! I definitely see the specialist degree in my future!!!!!

I hope you are having a good summer so far....how is the rain situation over in your guys area?

Turns out no fireworks for us this year, almost the entire state of TX is under a fireworks ban LOL!
