Does Pixie Dust Help with Decision-Making? A 2012 PTR! NEW! 6/30 pg.85

Good morning!

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. It was a low-key holiday for us, but that didn't stop Chelsea from awakening at the crack of dawn and making sure everyone else was awake as well. That girl loves Christmas!

We are only a week away from making dining reservations -- well, a week and one day -- but I seem to be having a hard time focusing on which restaurants we want to eat at and when. In all honesty, we are probably only going to make a couple of ADRs -- we plan on eating counter service the majority of the time.

However, even knowing we only need two or three planned meals, I can't seem to pin myself down to deciding which ones.

Instead, I am finding myself looking at pictures of edible stars and stripes around the Disney parks.

After all, it is going to be the Fourth of July, and I am a sucker for anything seasonal.

So, here are my American dreams of snacking...

Fried Ice Cream from the American Pavilion at Epcot. (I loved ordering it from Chi-Chi's when I was a kid.)

Apples all decked out in Fourth of July sprinkles:

Chelsea would love the American Flag marshmallows:

I have never met a cupcake I didn't like:

And I feel like this was aptly named -- the American Dream -- it has certainly played a large role lately in my daydreams -- softserve ice cream and slushie stuff. Yum!!!

I can't wait to see them all in person! Makes me want to sing, "You're a Grand Old Flag" just looking at the pictures!

I love "Grand Old Flag" Its my favorite marching band song to play.

I know how you feel about the ADRs. I made surprisingly few so far for our June trip. Just can't seem to put my finger on where I want to eat and when. Of course, with the nephews in tow I only made one big group character breakfast ADR. It will be counter service for them all the way.

Glad you had a wonderful Christmas! :santa:

Hey Jackie!!!! I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas too!!!!

I was just thinking about the DIS, and you and I must be on the same wave length, because I just went over to Photo bucket and loaded more pictures from the Thanksgiving cruise!!! So you know what that means... :rolleyes1

Are we that close to ADRs??!! I can't wait! I have to get my own act together too! I'm thinking I will do a resort for the first five days with my guys, then we are renting a 1 bedroom villa for the final 5 nights. I agree with you on the snacks! They had that red white and blue swirl slushie thing when we were there last!!! :thumbsup2

Cant wait to start thinking about this trip!!! :yay:

I think I might need to get some patriotic music/marches for the car as we get closer to the trip.

Charles said he had outgrown the character breakfasts, so I think it will be a couple of the nicer restaurants. Not sure though. I guess I will wait for inspiration to strike me in the next week.

It was nice -- Chelsea cracks me up because every year she declares, "This is the best Christmas ever!"

Yeay! You know I love your updates!!! :yay:

You are even closer than me -- in fact, you are probably only a few days away at this point. I would be perfectly happy snacking and drinking my way around the World that week, but there is a part of me that would feel guilty not making any reservations.

Anita had mentioned planning a couple of meals together, but since she is currently living it up down there right now, I guess I will just wait until she gets back.

Oh, and do we need a ressie for Blue Zoo if we are planning to do your tried and true method of ordering appetizers and drinking at the bar?

Cant wait to start thinking about this trip!!! :yay:

I know!!! :woohoo:

I think I will make the trip binder this week, and I have been scouring ebay in case there is anything Disney and July 4th that I think we must have beforehand. LOL!

Oh that all sounds great! I was thinking about a group dinner thing, or something like that, I agree, that would be great. But you let me know what you all are thinking. For Blue Zoo, bar plan, no, that is a walk in kind of thing... We will do that for certain, as well, so we can be flexible with that one, and maybe that would be a fun thing to meet for, it is pretty easy to make that happen without a big pre-plan. They don't tend to have conferences in the summer so I bet it would be easy to slide in there earlier on. We just have to have two well charged phones... LOL! except now the boys have Kindle Fires so we'll have those! LOL!

I got an IPad for my Birthday, and I have already loaded all sorts of fun Disney stuff on it!

Disney binder! YAY!!! For the 4th. Even I am a little rusty! We have not had a park trip with the kids since summer of 2010!!! So I am a little giddy too...

I am up for any kind of group dinner! We can put all the kids together at one end and put Chelsea in charge. :lmao:

Fun!!! How handy to be able to take the ipad instead of lugging around a laptop on trips. I read on the POR thread that Disney is putting in free wi-fi in the resorts. POR is up and running.

I feel very rusty. Skipping a year has put me all out of practice. LOL! Can't wait to be back!

So fun to get excited for the next trip! :yay: Seems like I've seen more people reporting having luck with "walk ups" lately so that is always something to keep in mind as well. Not to count on, of course, but in the moment, you just never know.

Did you and Happydog see that BZ has a new interactive bar menu?

 at Chelsea's early Christmas morning wake-up. Hate to say it but think I might have been close to 30 before I was really able to sleep in on the big day. :)

ETA - just saw on the restaurant board that one guest was told by a CM that Beast's Tavern in the MK is slated to open in late June 2012. Seems to just be rumor at this point but how cool if you will get to be among the first to try it!

Oh Jackie, you brought back memories! I remember having fried ice cream at Chi-Chi's while being serenaded on my birthday. That was a long time ago! Do they still have Chi-Chi's there? We don't anywhere around here. Are they long gone?

Those treats look yummy! I think the slush would be my favorite. I'm such a kid, I love stuff like that! :goodvibes

WOW what a great assortment of awesome 4th of July goodies!! I can't wait to partake in many of them!!

Yes our ADR day is upon us, we discussed a few options to dine at (a few must dos) but for the most part I'm really going to go with flow and just enjoy our time there!

I really hope we do get to have a dinner together!!! That would be a lot of fun!!!!

Can't wait to see your trip binder!! It is always a work of art to behold!!!

Dining reservations time - :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I love the 4th of July treats! Are you thinking of dinners? Cape May Cafe would be a great dinner to have at that time of year...it might even remind you of Tybee Island... It would be a great place to stroll/ boat from HS enroute to Epcot for Illuminations...

Jackie those all look yummy! I am also a sucker for anything seasonal or with a cute theme. I really want to try that American Dream though! I had planned to get one on this last trip (I think they are there all the time), but I got sidetracked! Have you had one before? I've read that they are really good. Those marshmallows are just too cute too! I hear snack credits calling. popcorn::

Glad you had a nice Christmas, Jackie :goodvibes

Yummmm, all the patriotic treats look delicious!! I'd go with Chelsea and be all for the red, white and blue marshmallows!

All this time on the DIS and I only heard about the American Dream recently. Something that will have to go on the neverending list of treats to taste at WDW. :lmao:

Woo hoo for a fabulous Christmas!! Chelsea got up earlier then my still believing 4 year old! LOL!!

Yippeee for ADR day coming up! I can't wait to make ADRs for our October trip! But that's a bit far off!

Those edible stars and stripes all look so yummy!!!

Hi Jackie :wave2: Just getting caught up, I've sure missed you girls!

I'm super jealous of all you guys who will be in Disney at the same time in July, makes me want to price a trip myself :thumbsup2

Definitely something to keep in mind although I wouldn't really depend on it since it will be the July 4th week.

Did you and Happydog see that BZ has a new interactive bar menu?

Cool! Of course, I had to look to see if those crab nachos Happydog loves were on there. I really want to try them.

 at Chelsea's early Christmas morning wake-up. Hate to say it but think I might have been close to 30 before I was really able to sleep in on the big day. :)

 I see Chelsea being just like that!

That would be beyond awesome if it opened that soon! I was thinking we wouldn't see any of the new Fantasyland stuff yet, so I would be super excited!

Oh Jackie, you brought back memories! I remember having fried ice cream at Chi-Chi's while being serenaded on my birthday. That was a long time ago! Do they still have Chi-Chi's there? We don't anywhere around here. Are they long gone?

Sadly, all the Chi-Chi's are out of business now. :( I loved going there as a kid -- did you ever bring home one of those avocado pits to try and grow? I always did that.

Those treats look yummy! I think the slush would be my favorite. I'm such a kid, I love stuff like that! :goodvibes

I am all about that slush! Can't wait to try it.

I agree -- we must make a big group dinner happen!

Can't wait to see your trip binder!! It is always a work of art to behold!!!

I worked on it yesterday -- I need to find some fireworks stickers.

Even as a Canadian, those stars and stripes treats all look pretty delicious!! :)

I agree!

We have never eaten at Cape May Cafe, so that might be a lot of fun!

The American Dream is there all the time -- thank goodness! LOL! I have not tried one before, so I am really looking forward to it.

Glad you had a nice Christmas, Jackie :goodvibes

Yummmm, all the patriotic treats look delicious!! I'd go with Chelsea and be all for the red, white and blue marshmallows!

Chelsea loves marshmallows. I buy bags of them in those cute holiday shapes, and she just eats them plain. LOL!

All this time on the DIS and I only heard about the American Dream recently. Something that will have to go on the neverending list of treats to taste at WDW. :lmao:

I could make a job out of eating treats at Disney World. LOL!

Woo hoo for a fabulous Christmas!! Chelsea got up earlier then my still believing 4 year old! LOL!!

That girl kills me! I found out she set her alarm to go off at 4:45. Next year I am confiscating her phone and her alarm clock so she can't pull that.

Yippeee for ADR day coming up! I can't wait to make ADRs for our October trip! But that's a bit far off!

It's never too early to start planning though.

Those edible stars and stripes all look so yummy!!!

I know -- I don't know how I will manage to eat everything I want to -- there are lots of things that aren't seasonal that I want as well.

Hi Jackie :wave2: Just getting caught up, I've sure missed you girls!

Hi, Michelle! I've missed you, too! Glad you are back!!!

I'm super jealous of all you guys who will be in Disney at the same time in July, makes me want to price a trip myself :thumbsup2

I wish you would/could go -- it would be so much fun!

um NOOOOOOOOOOO I have NOT heard about this!!!! We are going in February, so you know I will be checking that out!!! :thumbsup2

Hmmm... Beast's Tavern, eh? Well, I need to get finding these Fantasyland opening/info threads!!! I want to see all that, and that is why I know we are heading back for Christmas too!

Blue Zoo....All I can say is Serenity. And order more than one :rolleyes1

Love the patriotic marshmallows!!! So cute!

Oh I used to love Chi-Chi's too!! I think you should recreate the fried ice cream at your home....I have seen them do it on tv and it doesn't look too hard. For you to do not me. :rotfl2: You are a creative genius in the kitchen ;)

Enjoy the rest of your break
