Does owning/staying DVC make you feel different than when...

Terry, you are always a fountain of information on BCV. Thanks. I'm not sure we'll ever use it but I agree it's so nice to walk into the room after a busy evening and have the beds neatly turned down. Very tempting!

Do you know if they do the pullout in the living room if you're using it?

Do you happen to know if you can request it on a nightly basis or just for length of stay? For our recent stay most evenings my son wanted to just relax in the room in the evening. But on the couple of nights we were in Epcot in the evening, it would have been nice to return to fresh towels and beds turned down.

I am not sure, but I think I read somewhere that turn down was $10 in a studio, but more for other size rooms. I think is was closer to $30 for a 2 bedroom villa.

I'd love to be wrong on this one, but I figured I'd let you know, so you can check it out.

so....can you not ask housekeeping for fresh towels whenever you want? is that the case?

thanks

Terry,

Thanks for the info on the turndown service!! I'll have to check on it when I'm @ HH! I love chocolates!!!!

So we feel different, more relaxed, more a part of WDW. We rush less, don't worry about hitting every ride, we know we'll be back. We're more into enjoying each other's company and having a good family time than trying to see everything. We feel more a part of it, after all, we're owners, not just visiting. It's great.

If you are a DVC member staying or points or renting points, then no you can not ask for fresh towels whenever you want, unless you are willing to pay extra for them.

You get a set number of towels and you get fresh ones on Towel and Tidy day which I believe is on the 4th day after checkin.

If you are willing to pay for them you can get extra towels. This is pretty much a standard practice with time share properties.

We dont miss housekeeping at all. It's nice not having to leave your room so the maids can clean. It was always a guessing game when they would finish.

It's also nice planning your next vacation 11 months out. I do feel different everytime we check out not paying a bill :p

I have to agree with most here that being a DVC member does make me feel more special on vacation. I feel like a real vacation home owner, since I don't have to have maids running in at any hour and don't have to worry about it.

Like most have said, it is no big deal to make your bed when you get out of it. And if you don't want to make it, you don't have to! It's your choice. We always make the bed as soon as we get up at home, so it is no big deal on vacation either. I even make the bed when I stay at a regular hotel now.

The trash and towel day on the 4th day of a week's stay and the full cleaning for longer stays is just right for us. Sometimes we need more clean towels, but I just throw them in the washer with our whites when we leave in the morning and put them in the dryer when we return. Usually there are 4 of us in a 2 bedroom, so there are plenty of towels provided to get us to either the Trash and Towel day or full cleaning day.

I also have a timeshare in St. Maarten and that includes daily housekeeping, acually we have a fulltime housekeeper, Agnes, that is on the floor at all times if we need anything, we get fresh sheets daily, fresh towels, etc. I love it there because we are at the beach all the time and the sand is everywhere. At DVC, when we rented points at OKW and Vero, we didn't miss it at all! The only thing that was a pain was the towel situation at Vero, we were in a studio and it was tight (4 of us) I washed towels a few times, it was also raining the entire time so we got wet alot!!! But that 1 bedroom at OKW - WOW!!!! So easy to keep picked up ourselves, my husband was making fun of me, because our "Vacation Home" was cleaner and neater that our ownhome!! Maybe because of the size, but it was fun playing house in a smaller place!!

BCV23... Thank you! I am pretty sure that you can request it on specific nights. I would just call down to housekeeping and ask them on the nights you want it.

Namdnas... I just called the front desk at BCV to confirm and asked how much Turn Down Service would be in a 2 bedroom Villa while staying on points. They put me on hold because they had no clue and then came back and told me $10. I would just confirm the cost when I check in if I were you!

Actually the last time we stayed I gave the maid a five dollar bill whenever we wanted clean sheets and towels which was about every other day. ;) It all worked out fine.

Throughout life there are groups we belong to and groups we don't. There are organizations we are involved in and those we are not.

Although I have always felt somewhat "at home" at WDW, based solely upon the number of times I had been there and the wonderful experiences I have had, buying into DVC has added something special. The feeling of truly being a part of the magic, rather than just experiencing it. Even the simple pleasures (like looking up a copy of our deed on the Orange County website) continually remind us that we are a part of the Disney experience for years to come.

Frankly, the making of our bed in the morning at DVC never really enters my mind. At home, it is an obligation, at DVC it's an option ;) (one we ussually gladly do with a smile).

The luxurious space and truly home-like atmosphere make DVC a Disney experience unlike others - the towels and making the bed...just aren't an issue.

Before we owned DVC I had never stayed onsite. As soon as we signed the papers way back in February, 1992 I felt special! Here I was actually belonging to something unique! I felt at home right away! Last week I found the original letter welcoming us as members. It brought back fond memories of our original guide, our presentation and our first visit 'home'.

I have never felt as if I was missing anything. Actually I love the space, the freedom to come and go without worrying about getting in the maid's way and the sense of belonging.

I think that the "Welcome Home" as I drive in the gate at OKW says it all!

We are still in the contract process but since we have reservations for our Sept trip I already have "that" feeling. Just something special. I will own part of my favorite place on earth. its so cool. :smooth: :smooth:
