Does offsite mean bad FP options?

For a while my family and I were going to WDW every year - sometimes twice a year but we took a pause because a family member had some health issues. Our last visit was Oct. 2013 so we haven't experienced all the new changes to the FP system. We're planning a trip for next October (10/11 - 10/23) and were weighing whether to stay onsite or stay at Bonnet Creek. Since those staying onsite get to make FP reservations 60 days out vs. 30 days for offsite folks is it even possible to get decent FP choices while staying offsite? We're usually rope drop folks so the old FP system worked well for us. Just looking for some feedback on what to expect with the new FP system. Thanks!

It might.

It might not.

Don't get your heart set on Frozen Ever After. And maybe not 7DMT. Or any of the new stuff that comes online.

Other stuff should be readily available. Just maybe not at the times you prefer.

Only thing I could say about offsite and FP+ is pretty much forget riding "Frozen Ever After" with FP+. Those FP's are hard enough to get staying on-site, to where people on a short trip don't always get them. Soarin' may be a little tough too and some days for 7DMT, but outside of those for the most part you should be okay I'd think.

We are going Xmas-NY week this year. I just finished making my FP reservations. I was able to get everything I wanted except Frozen at all the times I wanted for the busiest week of the year. 7DMT only had availability after 10pm but that was fine for me as we like to ride it at night anyway. Plenty of availability on Soarin'. We stay at a townhouse in Windsor Hills and having the extra room is well worth having to deal with not having a FP for Frozen.

I agree with the others. Even at 60 days out, it's sometimes difficult to get FEA and 7DMT. I've never had any issue getting any other FP+, however. There are work-arounds, though. Certainly hitting these rides at RD helps or making PPO reservations at Akershus, BOG or the EMM option at MK. All of those cost more, obviously, but have the potential of lessening your standby wait times.

We often stay offsite sand haven't had much trouble getting what we want. Those already mentioned will be trouble but otherwise we have found getting FP to be very doable.

Oh we don't go to meet and greets.

I've moved you to the FP subforum where a number of Sticky threads have beneficial info for those planning an offsite stay.

One other thing to note is if you stay offsite you can only book your FP at exactly 30 days ahead so you will have to book each day of your trip separately (meaning day 1 exactly 30 days ahead for that day only, day 2 the next day, etc). If you stay onsite you book all of your FP for how ever many days of tickets you have all at once at 60 days out.

I hope I'm explaining it in a way that is understandable.

Makes sense - I hadn't thought about that. I already made room only reservations onsite so I'll have some time to work out my options and figure out which way to go.
