Does nudity=porn? I was called a pervert!

OP here - thanks for making me feel normal!

I have the skier (down a buttock)
Bridge (between breast)
Power mower (this is the very first picture I saw at the art fair and it took me a minute to realize what it was - then I laughed - the idea of "mowing" the hair down there is funny)
Crane (this makes me giggle every time I see it - am I the only one who finds male nudity amusing?)
Mountain climber
Treasure diver

Allan Teger is based out of Florida, but I have seen him at two different art shows in the last few years - so I pick up a piece or two when I see him.

Oh, thanks guys. I wanted to see the pictures too but my company's blocking it! MUST BE PORN! Can't imagine they'd block art?! :lmao: Your neighbor sounds like a serious nut case. I'm just thinking if we're this curious about the pictures, how many thousands of hits do you think this artist's site is going to get once all the neighbors hear about this?! I think this artist owes you a cut of all future sales due to this incident. :rotfl:

While I don't think they are porn, I can see not wanting a young, impressionable child to see them. Yes, the human body is natural, but with the little figurines all over the bodies, I think you are kind of pulling away from the body as beauty into the "lets make fun of ****ies and butts" realm.

For the record, I think they are kind of silly (but not ha-ha funny) but not offensive. I think straight-up nudes are far more artistic and pure, and actually less objectional.

chicagodisneyfan--no you are not. Every time I see a nude male (whether it is art or not) I giggle because it just looks so silly to me.:lmao:

But realize that your whole neighborhood is going to be hearing about your porn from your nutcase of a neighbor.

I think you should invite the neighbors over for a showing of your art collection. Then they can all join in on thinking the guy next door is a jerk.

UNREAL...
YOUR bathroom, YOUR pictures. It really doesn't matter what ANYONE thinks but YOU.
You didn't ask to watch their child.

BTW, if that guy behaves that way after hearing a 5-year-old's version of ANY story without checking it out first, he's in for a long, hard road ahead.

It was really nice of you to help them out during an emergency.

First of all, he has no right to be mad since they asked you to have the child at your house.

As for the pornography, I guess I'd agree with him that some of those pictures fall in that category to me. Certainly erotic IMO. I had no problem with the tummy shots - I thought they were quite artful and clever. The breast shots didn't really bother me either. It was the ones with pubic hair that I wouldn't expect to see in public areas of a neighbor's house.

OP stated that the pictures were in her bathroom, hardly a public area.

I didn't see anything even mildly erotic about them. I did get a good chuckle from the Big Turtle.

OP, I hope the neighbor has calmed down. He sounds like a real trouble maker.

I think these are pretty funny! You may have just sold us some art.

Of course - currently we have bathtime photos of our kids hanging up in our bathroom (nothing below the waist). I guess your neighbor would think we were into child porn!

.

It's all a matter of opinion. I consider my main bathroom to be a public area because it's what guests use. Different people define things differently. As I stated before, he had no right to come and yell at the OP. He did, however, have a right to find her artwork offensive.

I absolutely agree the neighbor was in the wrong. It bothers me though that people want to harp on his opinions, not just his actions.

Regardless of content, art is always a matter of personal taste. It's really not polite to comment if you don't like it. However, on this message board, the OP asked for opinions.

Look at it this way. Least you won't be asked to baby-sit their kids anymore. :confused3

I've got a few of these as well and if they're porn then I'm in deeeeep trouble for what I have hanging in my garage.

Yep, I would have to agree that your neighbor is wackadoo. It is art on your wall, and they asked you to watch their kid. Tell them to call the cops. They would look like idiots.

Not porn....but interesting.

Just gotta ask! Do *ahem* REAL ta-ta's stand up like that when laying on one's back? :rolleyes1 (My experiance with the subject(s) has me leaning towards answering that they DON'T...:sad2: )

:thumbsup2 100% Agreed

As for the "prude" comments... There is a difference between feeling uncomfortable and choosing to be offended.

OP - Your neighbor is a nut! He should come over and apologize. Art is subjective of course, but his accusations were way out of line.

Several years ago, my DH and I went to Italy and while we were in Florance we went to see Michelangelo's "David" sculpture. Both DH and I were moved by the scultpure, so we found a local artist who made small replica sculptures out of mable. We bought one and had it shipped to our house.

We were having a party, the sculpture was inside a cabinet with glass windows and I look in and there is a towel over my sculpture. One of the guests covered it up because they didn't want their children seeing "porn". Well, after the party, I called up the guest, and needless to say they are no longer invited to my house.

EXACTLY

I do not consider it exactly PORN, but I can understand if a parent would expect their 4 year old not be exposed to it at a neighbors house. Now both parties involved know how the other feels about the issue, I just hope it could have been handled better. Just because I am ok with a certian subject matter(nudity), I do not assume that everyone must also find it to be no big deal. If I was the kids dad and felt as he does, I would just moniter my kid to make sure the kids does not go back in but I would not be calling the cops.

I was just looking at the pictures when DD10 came up behind and asked what I was looking at and I told her "art pictures" she said she liked the one I was looking at which was the chinese guy crossing the bridge and didn't pick up that the bridge was suspended betweens 2 breasts.

A couple more pictures later and she said it reminded her of the eye spy books with the all the little figures:confused3 :lmao:

She didn't pick up on there being naked people.

Your neighbor obviously is not too close with you under normal circumstances to get to know you, or your tastes in art, yet thought he/she thought you the perfect babysitter when you were needed most.

I just got back from our summer vacation in Valencia, Spain, and my daughters were a little embarrassed at all the topless women sunbathing and swimming in the sea. (We have always took our vacations in Florida until this year when we decided to have a change of scenery.) They were not as nearly as embarassed as my DH who came running from behind a small rocky cove red faced, after encountering a totally nude couple stretched out on the sand in all their glory, whilst he was trying to find us somewhere quieter on the busy beach for us to sit!:rotfl: Even funnier was the day the 'older' lady whipped off her bikini top right there in front of him on the beach. He doidnt know where to look! he has led a sheltered vacation life until now! ;) I think he may have been damaged for life - he has declared beach holidays boring and now WANTS to go back to Disney !!

To the average person art is art and porn is porn. There is a BIG difference in my mind. I wouldn't worry about the crazy neighbor:surfweb:

I googled the pictures as well. I have an open mind and it didn't bother me. If you had a more rigid opinion on the human body, I can see how that would bother somoene (ie golf tee picture)
