Does MS use banked points first?

I banked my Dec 08 points because we could not use them this year. I just made my reservation for our Dec 09 trip I used 260 of the 420 points I had available now will they use the banked ones first and then go into my 09 points automatically or do I have to request that?

They should use the banked ones first, but you'll want to make sure. Check the web site, and it should show you where your points are.

They should use banked points first, but I always make a point to say I have X banked points, lets make sure we use those first.

I agree with the above post.......MS should use banked points first then current UY but sometimes that does not happen. Definitely check DVC member site and go to your my point area to verify. Its a quick fix if they mess it up.

Ok so when I look at my account it says I have 160 09 points available and 160 points available to bank that means they used my 08 banked points first right? I am so nervous I will mess something up and you guys seems to know more then MS does after calling this morning to make my reservation.

Correct.....there are generally two number. Points to use and point available to bank. If the to use number is the same as the to bank number then MS did use your banked points first. Enjoy your trip!

We always make a point of saying "please use the banked points first." I would worry about it otherwise.

We have made quite a few reservations lately and one reservation we made they didn't use the banked points first even though we had asked. But thankfully she noticed the mistake whilst still on the phone and corrected it straightaway. Phew!

just remember these are your pts and you need to keep track of what's used and what's left. MS will at times make mistakes but it's our job to let them know what pts to use. Please don't expect MS to make the right move for you.

It's a good idea to figure out ahead of time what points will be left after the reservation is made. The MS CM will tell you your point balances after making your reservation and you should make sure that what they tell you matches what you wrote down prior to making the call. It's easier to correct mistakes immediately, with the same CM, than to call back later to try to fix problems.

If you are unsure whether the correct points were used, call MS and ask them to verify that the banked points were used.
