We just booked our trip :yay: We got an awesome deal!! Anyway, we just found a sweet price for airfare too. It's Allegiant Air and they fly into Orlando/Sanford Int'l. We've never flown into that airport--only MCO. Does ME go to that airport?

TIA

The answer is no to that question.I wish they did because the only good air fare prices I can find,go to that airport.I posted a question about the same thing and I was told they didn't use it and you'd have to do a rent a car or towncar, etc. What kind of deal did you get?:) :)

You need to figure in the $100 cost for transportation from Sanford to WDW each way, on average, or the cost of a rental car for the week. After doing this math, go back and look at airfare to MCO and the convenience of ME and make your airline decision. Sometimes the Allegian price doesn't seem as good when you take this into account.

Also, you probably already know, but Allegiant charges for bags per person and seat selection per person too so don't just go by the initial advertised price.

I didn't know that they charge per bag and for seat selection. Thanks for the tip. I am just so excited that they fly direct to Orlando from our city buy maybe it is not such a great deal. I guess we could check into renting a car.

We flew Allegiant for our trip back in September. We paid either $59 or $69 per person (4 of us), each way, with a total of 5 bags (we added one more at the last minute, but they said they wouldn't charge me for it :goodvibes ). I went to the airport to buy the tickets, so I wouldn't have to pay the convenience fee, and we did not pick our seats. We were able to sit close together (2 & 2). I figured that if we did not get seats together, I could probably get someone to switch with me, or they could take care of my 6 year old for the flight  . By flying Allegiant, we saved a few hundred dollars (and this includes a rental car to get to WDW and back to the airport), enough to stay an extra day. We loved flying Allegiant, and would do it again in a heartbeat. The flight attendants were all very friendly, and since the flight was direct, we didn't have to worry about making connections. Unfortunately, they have raised their prices at our nearest airport, so it would actually cost almost as much as flying in and out of MCO :scared1: . Next time, we may drive down to my parents' house and fly out of the airport near their house (about 4 hours from my house), as Allegiant flies out of their airport for only $29 each way (plus all the fees)! Still way cheaper than flying Delta (usually around $1200 for 4 of us!). Good luck!

We fly Allegiant in and out of Sanford. We are locals, so of course don't use ME. Correct that ME does not service Sanford.
Alamo and even town car/limo rentals do, and can be part of a WDTC package. (Just in case you have a WDTC package.)
Allegiant is nice because they do use the smaller airports that are easier to get in and out. Which also means parking is most likely cheaper and easier too, as in our case.
EVERYTHING is extra on Allegiant -- bags, beverages, food, seat selection. etc.
But their prices are too good even with all that, in comparison with the other airlines.
I expect other airlines will keep or raise their prices and still start charging for what use to be included anyway.
