Does it bug you when an acqaintance asks you your age?

It doesn't bother me and people usually guess much younger. It does bother my DD as she is 24 and looks about 15. I keep telling her that one day she'll see the good side of that. As my DH says, "Age is a matter of mind, if you don't mind it don't matter". I do not usually ask someone their age unless it comes up in conversation.

Not at all. Most people think I'm younger than I am and at 44 I'm very glad about that!;)

No, it doesn't bother me. I'll be 50 in 3 months.

Doesn't bother me.

I have been known to ask this question but it is usually when the person has said something that makes me believe I am wrong about how old I think they are. I have a co-worker that I assumed was around my age but he said something that wouldn't make sense if he was my age so I asked how old he was. Same thing happened with a woman I go to school with.

I'm with the OP, I hate it. It's not that I'm ashamed of my age but rather that I feel so much younger and I hate getting lumped into the 'middle-aged' category. Anyway, if the saying 'your as old as you feel' is true, then I'm around 24. :)

I've never had a problem with it. I guess it's because it was always such a big deal to my Mother (who refused to divulge her age to anyone). I didn't know her age until right before she passed away.

Nope, doesn't bother me a bit. I've earned every year. :goodvibes I'm 35. :)

Nope doesn't bug me at all.

I could care less, ask my age, weight, height etc... depending on how I feel is the answer you'll get LOL!!!

I gave up caring years ago, I figure I look damn good for 49. Ran my first Marathon at 45 so figure hell, what does a number matter.

It doesn't bother me, and in fact, I actually rather enjoy the look of shock on their faces when I tell them I'm 35..."What??? I thought you were 22, 23..."

Even though I'm not ashamed to tell my age, I also like to tell people "I'm 29...with 6 years of experience" :teeth:

The only thing hard to swallow about my age was when I returned to school in September, and in talking to my new classmates, finding out that they are literally half my age now.

It wouldn't bother me, although it might be a little weird if the question came out of nowhere.

No, it doesn't bother me at all. But whenever someone asks I have to stop and think how old I am because these years are going by too fast!! And I'm only 27 (I think ;) )

It doesn't bother me, maybe because I am still in my 30"s, ask me again in 3 years. LOL

You need this comeback:

"Old enough to know better and young enough not to care"

or

"Old enough to know better and young enough to do it anyway."

It does bother me and I tell them to pound sand.

Unless it is a woman around my age who is asking to really ask me questions about things, like mammograms, which happened twice this year. I was happy to answer and help them out.

I figure it this way: They can all ready tell I look awful, what difference does it make if they also think I'm old?;)

I'm glad to see I'm not totally alone on the DIS to be a bit annoyed. My BF thinks it's kind of odd too and wouldn't like it.

It hasn't been asked for any particular reason. :confused3 I don't know. I always wonder what's the next question. What's your mortgage or something like that. People have asked me how much we paid for our vacation rental, while we were in it. I directed them to the owner. I mean, I don't know you, I don't want to talk about that!! I'm on vacation! People ask the craziest things!
