Okay. It bugs me. I know there are a lot of people on the DIS that nothing bothers them but that isn't me! I'm perplexed when asked and I'm usually at a loss for words. I really should come up with something zippy and lighthearted as a segue to change the subject. To me it's nunya (as in none of your business).

I guess it bugs me because I think it's kind of nosy. It doesn't matter to me what age someone happens to be. What difference does it make? I always wonder why they ask. I should probably ask the next person why they ask.

No, that is one thing that would not bother me. I am not one who nothings bothers, though. But in that case, no it wouldn't.

No - it doesn't bother me.. Of course I don't make a habit of going around asking others either - because I know that it does bother some folks..:goodvibes

Well Geez Ocean Annie, exactly how old are you that you're cranky about your age??? :rotfl: Only kidding!!! Don't even answer that. Just being a tease.

I don't really care if people ask my age because they usually assume I am younger than I am. Now that I only have one year left until 50 though (as of today), maybe that'll change.

Don't mind it a bit. I'm 42. Now ask me about finances...I get testy.

It depends. IF it is someone seemingly close in age--no big deal.

If it was someone 40 years my senior or a youngin' fresh from college--it probably would bug me.

The guesses have been 11 years younger (I guess that was a really good day ), today it was 2 years younger. I don't like the guesses too much either. I just like to talk about fun stuff. Age is not in that category. I just never ask anyone and it came out of the blue (usually does).

Wouldn't faze me a bit.

I am pretty much of the opinion that there are very few people who ages one cannot guess to within about 5 years in either direction.

I'm 47. There's no one who is going to think I am 25. Anyone looking at me is probably going to guess me at somewhere between 42 and 52, depending on how my hair comes out that day! ;)

I think as a person who is aging, the less we buy into society's marginalization of older people, the better off we'll be. There is nothing wrong with being the age you are.

I meant to add: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! party:

I am not 30 yet so maybe it will bother me someday but right now it doesn't...although it does when they look at my older daughter and then ask me how old I am....like they are trying to figure out how old I was when I had her....that makes me mad.

I'm happy. I'm just not wearing a sign with my age on it. :)

No, it doesn't bother me. I'm 44 and proud of it!

It bothers me that people think I am only 18 or 19 or 20. I look VERY young for my age. I am 26 and hate when people don't take me seriously because they think I am much younger. But telling my age doesn't bother me. Probably will in 4 years, though... ;)

No. They ask, I tell them. I am not ashamed of my age.

Good for you! I'm not ashamed either. It's just not a topic I like to discuss. Like my weight. I'm not ashamed of that, don't want to discuss it. I guess it comes down to preference.

It doesn't bother me for someone to ask my age, but I don't ask other people their age, because I know that it DOES bother some folks.

I always figure, I am the age I am, I had no choice on the date I was born....not anything I can do to change it.
