We've only gone once and had a studio in the main building. I think we were on the 2nd floor maybe. I would definitely ask to be on the top floor as a request if we ever go back. It is built of wood construction and we had 2 or 3 solid days of HARD (realllllly torential) rain at the start of our trip where we were pretty much confined in the room. (There is not a whole lot of stuff to do on the island when the weather's inclement.) The people above us were in reality a small herd of billy goats disguised as humans. They RAN everywhere they went. And they RAN from dawn until the wee hours. It was the only time I've ever called the front desk to complain about our neighbors. The floorboards above us creaked & groaned with every step they took. And there were a lot of them.
Other than that the resort is well kept and we enjoyed the pool over at the beach house (we were there in August and when it wasn't raining there were too many jelly fish to go into the ocean - the ocean was basically off limits). We were really thankful to have that amenity right there by the beach. They had a special beach party thing there one night that we paid extra to attend (included a sort of low country buffet type dinner). It was fun.
We found a few Disney touches around the resort but it wasn't overwhelmingly Disney-fied. It's a shame they didn't have the space or whatever to build the entire resort right ON the beach. We got used to the schlep over pretty quickly tho and used the shuttle sometimes because parking was limited. It was really only a pain if you forgot something you wanted back in the room (ie sunglasses or a book or whatever).
