I'm heading down to Saratoga Springs and meeting a fairly large group who are spending the first night at a different resort and then moving the next day. They're planning to check-in early so they can get their DDP set up. Since one of the reservations includes a four year old, a teenage girl and grandparents, they'd like to send one person per villa to SSR to check in and get everyone's DDP squared away while everyone else gets ready. Can they do this? I know that all members of a party are required to be present for free dining, but is that rule in effect when you pay for it?

And if you see this, ChefBilly, HI! I'll talk to you later.

Not without the Free Dining Plan. I checked in last weekend sans wife, who was at another hotel on company business. They just gave me her keys to the kingdom; we met her at EPCOT later that day.

In August, only one person from our party checked in. The rest of us were out walking about the hotel!

A small number of guests had to present all members of their party at check-in, during the free dining promotion. Outside of that, the requirement hasn't been applied, AFIAK.

Contrary to everyone else's experience, we all had to go to check-in. I tried to do it by myself, but as we had 2 rooms we all had to go. POR, a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for all the replies! It looks like they should be okay. They're sending representatives of both rooms. I just didn't want the two guys show up at SSR and then have to go back to their respective hotels to go get everyone. We need to get the four year old on Main Street as early as we can! :thumbsup2

The CM's really seem to be hit-or-miss on this. When looking back on our last four stays, the policy has been enforced differently each time. Twice I was the only one required at check-in, once my entire family of four had to come to the counter, and once when we had three rooms booked, they made all the people in my room come to the counter...but not anyone from the other two rooms. Go figure!

If the SSR reservations are all on one reservation (one member's points), the credits will be totalled up on all the Room IDs. If different members made the reservations, they will be separated by the reservation.

Just make sure those checking in are on the reservation. We've had problems in the past at DVC reports where I've arrived before my parents, but could not get keys to the room because I was not on the reservation.
