Does Disneyland ever send PIN codes like WDW?

DLR usually does deals on tickets. Sometimes on rooms like it is doing now.

I don't know why DLR never sent me anything like that. I think it is because I've booked another trip too quick. But probably because most of their visiters are just a few hours away at most, where as in WDW they need to fly in for a real vacation.

Yes, they do. I've only seem them for on property room deals. I've received one in the past. No one knows how you get them, they seem pretty random. Just sign up for disney sites/stuff with your e-mail and address and keep your fingers crossed.

Yes, only on property and we got one about a month ago.

Yes, they do send codes out, both by mail and e-mail. I've gotten them both ways. Disney has my info about 6 different ways, so sign up for everything.

DLR usually tends to run their deals later than WDW for the same timeframe. Our on-site deal for October came out in mid-August last year.

I got one for last year but it was for % off the hotel code. I wanna say it was 30 or 40% off.

I've received emails and mailers from DLR with pins on them. Of course I haven't ever been able to use one but someday..... :)

I got one in may for a summer offer. To bad I already had my summer trip booked for next week.

Did anyone who got a pin code previously go log in on the DLR site and price hotels? Just trying to guess what might trigger one. ;)

I've gotten a few in the past couple of months. Heck, i even got one in the mail last week :goodvibes Too bad I can't use 'em.

Ways I *could* be getting pin codes (based on what info Disney has on me):

1.Stayed onsite at WDW, 2008
2. Stayed onsite at DLR last fall
3. Did the GAD service project
4. Subscriber to Family Fun magazine
5. Belong to Disney Movie Rewards
6. Disney VISA holder (this is new so I don't think I've gotten any PINs because of it)

I will say the frequency of "special info" emails, not all of which are PINs, increased after I booked to stay onsite last fall.

Ok, hmm. Wonder if past guests are more likely than those who haven't stayed there. I always log in when I go to the site because I hope they think I'm interested. ;)

I just wanted to pop in and agree with this. When I stayed onsite at DLR - twice in 2007 and twice in 2008 - I was getting many more PIN offers (via e-mail and regular mail) around and in between those time frames. Last year, I lost count after a while of how many PIN codes I had received (and the irony was that last year was a bad financial year so I couldn't stay onsite). I think I may have received one or two PINs this year so far (probably because I did not stay onsite last year and they figure I lost interest in DLR hotel stays) - and I am not even positive that I got two - but it's not nearly as many as I got when I did back to back trips with onsite hotel stays. It seems like when my hotel stays decreased, so did the PIN codes!

I always say - since we don't know exactly from where Disney pulls the names for who will get PIN codes - it is better to just get on every mailing list that is Disney-related (especially if it has to do Disney-related travel or with the theme parks). Sure, you may submit your name and info to a bunch of places and still get nothing for a long time - I assume the selection process is randomized, to a degree - but it's better to get on mailing lists than to NOT get on them. Disney has to be able to know who you are to send anything to you, and they won't know who you are if you don't get on mailing lists, book at their hotels or buy things from them.

So just sign up for everything - sign up for the vacation DVDs for both DLR and WDW. Sign up to get info on DCL. Create a "My Disneyland" account on the DLR website and check yes for receiving any offers. Sign up for Adventures by Disney info. Sign up for info on that new Disney Resort that is going to open in Hawaii. Sign up for info on the Disney Vacation Club. Get an AP, if you can swing it, to get in that system. Subscribe to any Disney-produced magazines. Book a DLR hotel stay to get your name in the hotels' master system.

And be creative - think of companies that are owned by Disney and sign up with those too. I even signed up with my local news station (KABC-7) in Los Angeles because they are owned by Disney. WHo is your local affiliate that is owned by Disney? Sign up on their website for info.

Sign up on the Disney Family or Disney Living websites too.

Oh - also, take any and all surveys they offer you, whether it's on the DLR website or whether it's by mail, in person, over the phone, whatever. Disney has been known to hand over $100 in cash or $100 in gift cards for survey participation (not for all surveys, of course, but for certain ones), so it can't hurt to answer anything they want to ask you because you never know!!

Yes, we did at the end of last year/beginning of this year (can't remember exactly). It was good up until the end of May so we used it for our May trip. 40% off room rates - can't beat that! :goodvibes

This is so weird that we've been talking about PINs the last couple days and BOOM, I get a room-only one, sorta.

It is addressed to the Txxxxx family and references our GAD service. When we did the service it had us estimate when we thought we would go to DLR next and I put July. I originally got a PIN in May and it said "we know you are planning on July, but here's some great hotel rates for May, Nov, and Dec."

The PIN I just got today obviously no longer has May dates, but references the same Nov/Dec dates. I checked the old email I had saved and the PIN is the same long number string.:confused3 The old email didn't have an expiration date.

So I guess there could still be a PIN floating around attached to your name if you were sent one a while back. I have heard over on the WDW side of the board to call Disney and specifically ask if there is a PIN attached to your name. I didn't save the snail-mail one I got a couple months ago, so I don't know if it had the same PIN or a different one.

It would figure, this is our one-day-trip year sandwiched between DLH last year and WDW next year!
