Does Disney Visa $ expire if you don't transfer?

I know my card expires in December of this year. But if I don't transfer over my balance each month do they expire?

Thanks!

$50 in Disney Dollars for a card that I closed the first year it was established. You think I could use the dollars?

It really depends on when you received the reward dollars and whether or not you have transferred them to a reward card. Once they are transferred, they expire whenever the card expires (the date should be listed on the card). If you just keep them in your account, they are usually good for a few years. You can check the expiration online.

If you closed the account and didn't transfer the dollars, I would think they are no longer available to use. You probably should call customer service and check.

If the Rewards Dollars are on a rewards card that expires at the end of December of this year, you will need to spend those Rewards Dollars before the card expires. If you do not, the Rewards Dollars will disappear when the card expires. Rewards Dollars that have been transferred to a rewards card cannot be placed back into your Disney VISA account or moved to another rewards card.

If the Rewards Dollars are still in your Disney VISA account, they do not expire when your credit card expired. As long as the CC account is active, you retain your Rewards Dollars.

Your account must be active and in good standing in order to claim your Rewards Dollars. When you closed the account, you forfeited those rewards. Sorry.

If you get your reward dollars in the shape of the reward card...and then transfer the balance...do you still get the reward points?

I called today and if we get our reward card in the near future it won't expire until Dec 31, 2006.

I was lucky....my TA has arranged to pay for our rooms in full so now I will be able to pull out all the reward $'s before we go!

I'm not sure if I understand your question. If you're talking about a balance transfer from one credit card to your Disney VISA, you will not get rewards dollars for the transfer. If you're talking about getting rewards dollars for purchases made with your Disney VISA and then you pay off the Disney VISA by transferring the balance to another card, then you retain your rewards dollars.

It's great that you'll be paying for your rooms in full before you go so that you can use those rewards dollars during your trip. But if your trip isn't for another 3+ months, you should probably have waited. There really is no rush to get those points or order that rewards card. Even if you were to order the card today, you would still be able to transfer additional rewards dollars to it at any time during the lifetime of the card as long as you tranferred $10 or more in rewards dollars.

Thanks for the answers.

The reason I paid for the room in full is because the 0% finance charge is up in October. Pull out the reward points and transfer it to a different card.

These reward points are only good at Disney right? At least that is what I thought...so wanted to have them ready as this will be our last trip for awhile.

Thanks again...or in advance for the answers I know I am about to get!

Do you have a local disney store? You can use it there. I use my card to buy disney dollarss at TDS which are good forever.

herc.

Just a word of warning not all Disney Stores will allow you to purchase DD with the rewards card. My mom was refussed at our "local" store.

Can you use your rewards card for ANYTHING in Disney World or are there exclusions? ie restaurants like Rainforest Cafe?...I was under the assumption that I could use my rewards card anywhere in Disney World for any purchase but I've read some posts that make me think differently, but I've yet to get an answer. Please help me.

Thanks

There are exceptions to where the card will be accepted just as there are exceptions to where Disney Dollars will be taken. RFC will not take the card but you can charge the meal to your room if you're staying onsite. You can then pay your room charges off with the rewards card. There are other places in DtD that are not Disney-owned and the card is not accepted at those locations either.

Ok, if you were me.... .... my trip (which i haven't booked just yet) that last week of January, when would you request your rewards card? I haven't gotten my first statement yet... I'm just hoping to get a few "extra" dollars to spend on gifts, not so much towards my room.

Thanks

That depends on whether you will want to use that rewards card multiple times. I you order before Jan. 1, 2006, the card will expire on Dec 31, 2006. If you have no problem with that, then order the card any time. If you want a card that does not expire until Dec. 31, 2007, then you need to wait until Jan.1, 2006 to order the card.

Keep in mind that you will need a minimum of $20 in rewards dollars to order a card. You can then transfer addional rewards dollars to that card as long as you transfer a minimum of $10 at a time. All transferred rewards dollars will expire when the card they have been transferred to expires. That's why it's a good idea to wait until after the new year if you do not need your rewards card right away.

If you want to get your Rewards Card while you're at WDW, you can pick one up at either the DtD Marketplace Guest Relations or the DtD West Side Guest Relations. For someone visiting WDW in January, that's probably the best possible choice. You will get a card that will not expire until the end of 2007 and you can put every last earned reward onto it when you pick it up.

ok but if i want till Jan 1 to order my card will it get ot be within 3 weeks? And if i wait till I get there to get the card I thought it took awhile for the points to transfer onto the card? I dont plan on going again (well I even be given a chance) until 2007 anyways... so I guess I could just order it maybe around xmas just to make sure I have it in time...?

another question, you have to have 10 points to transfer inorder to be able to transfer? or you can only transfer 10 points at a time?

another question, i believe i received "checks" to use with my visa, and my rent won't accept anything but checks, if i write a check with one of their's will i get points from that, does anyone know? thanks!
Jaime

I think if you use the checks they send it is considered a cas hadvance or a balance transfer. Neither of which give you any Disney Dollars. Also, I believe that the dollars are good for 5 years if left on you VISA account. I've been charging everything to get as many dollars as possible for a 2007 trip. I have 361 dollars so far. :cool1:

well i just got my card (first thing i got in the mail after teh hurricane) so i wont have but maybe 15 dollars but i also get the 50 so it is something, not much but I figure it'll be good to use on buying something YOU WANT but you dont want to waste money on it... this way I'm not and im goint ot buy it! hehe

I wish the checks would go towards your rewards, id din't think they would, my rent wont take anything but checks and that would had been 6 dollars a month, tsk! I am charging EVERYTHING I can to my account and paying it off like I would if I wrote a check... My goal is to get at least 20 points before My trip in Jan.

Thanks!

I've ordered two rewards cards in the past and neither has taken as long as 3 weeks to arrive. An order placed on 3/3/2005 was received on 3/12/2005. They do offer Rush shipping for an additional $10 if you feel that your card may not arrive in time for your trip.

Points that you transfer to the card, either online or by phone, are immediately credited to the card. You can use them right away.
another question, you have to have 10 points to transfer inorder to be able to transfer? or you can only transfer 10 points at a time?
The minimum amount that you need to have in order to transfer your points is 10. If you have 14 rewards dollars in your account, then you can transfer all 14. If you only have 8 rewards dollars, you cannot transfer them to your card.

BankBunny is correct. You get no rewards dollars for balance transfer or cash advances, which is what the convenience check is. Plus, Chase will begin charging you interest as soon as that check is cashed instead of allowing you the grace period that credit transactions enjoy.

Just want to reiterate what BankBunny pointed out - reward dollars left on your account will expire 5 years from the date they are earned. The expiration date is listed on your monthly statement.
