I know I saw threads on this topic (and I wish I could search, but I can't so here goes)....

I'm trying to estimate how much bottled water we'll need for our trip (next week). If WDW tap water tastes good (that is, has no taste at all!) then I can probably rinse and reuse bottles filled from the tap (at PO FQ and AKL). But if it tastes BAAAAAD, then I better buy more!!!

Thanks!

I don't find the water bad at all. We buy a few bottles and then refill at the tap, freeze them and take them to the parks.

(With no offense intended to Gail) BLECH!!! :teeth:

You would save money if you buy some Brita water bottles. It filters as you drink from it. They can be found at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, etc. Usually you can find them in the kitchen sections or back in home improvements where they sell water filters for your faucets.

Hope that this helps. :)

I didn't find the water bad at all. And it is COLD.

We usually freeze bottled water, take a bottle per person, when it is about just 1/2 ice, we refill again with fountain water.

I do this not because I am cheap, but because I hate standing in line, and the water may not be as cold as I like it.

So, I would go for it. I liked the water (and I drink a lot of water...)

Another vote for NASTY water! We always buy bottled water down there.

Another blech vote. I'm planning on bringing in two cases of water when we go down there next month. We even used a Brita water filter and that did not help at all. In fact, the water was so bad my dh had some problems with it *clearing throat* you know the vengeful kind. He said it smelled like creek water.

I didn't think it was too bad, my boyfriend really, really did not like it. He even complained when we made coffee or tea in our hotel room. I guess it's just not for everyone.

If you're going to use bottled water, buy the water outside of the parks or buy a Brita bottle. The water costs $2.50 inside of the park.

I guess it all depends on what you are used to but in my experience one word sums it up SULFUR!! The water smells and tastes of it, including the fountain soda. Not to mention it gave me a little unpleasant side effect. That goodness my mom brought along the immodium

Yucky. I can't get it past my nose. We have spring water and I really notice the difference.

The water in Orlando made my Dd and me pucking sick for 2 days!! I will never!! Ever!! Drink it again!! I will ship water from Oregon rather than endure drinking Fl. water again.

But we did find that at Walmart they had Aquafina bottled water That was not bottled in FL. I read the lable to be sure!! and that worked well. Also it came in bigger bottles $5.00 for 2 6-packs.

I just bought 2 of the Brita Fill & Go bottles for our next trip. They were $7.95 apiece at Drugstore.com. Even with additional shippings costs, it's still less expensive than buying bottled water in the parks. I hope that they're effective in removing that sulphurous taste from the water. It was my DS's biggest complaint about the drinking fountains there.

I didn't even know about the Brita Fill & Go's!! What a great invention. I love the idea (more economical & environmentally friendly !!)

I'm curious though, if anyone else has had Goofyzgurl's reaction that even Brita didn't help??

Another vote for bringing your own bottled water from home (if driving). The tap water at our resort had a slight sulfur odor and tasted really bad. We went to a fountain at MK when our water ran out once and never was able to take a sip from it because it had such an odor to it. Yuck.

We have used the Fill N Goes when we last went to WDW and we felt that they helped a LOT. Perhaps not exactly the way that bottled water tastes - but a huge improvement over water just out of the tap.

We don't mind the water at all. I guess it's what you get used to. I don't even notice a smell. We've always drank the water from the parks and the only thing we didn't like is that it is that sometimes it's not cold enough. You'll have to judge it yourself.

I live in the area and alway use my Brita. But I know plenty of people who don't mind the water. A lot of the problem comes from the fact that there are some places with a lot of sulfur in the water. So depending on the filtration system used for those faucet, fountains, etc. the water could really smell and taste of sulfur. However, if the water is left to sit for a while, the sulfur smell and taste comes out (a process called ariation or something like that). We had it explained at a forum that the college I worked at hosted on the water in FL....the lowering levels in the aquafar (part of the reason the sulfar smell and taste is happening so much more), need to conserve and limit development without water reuse plans etc.

But since you never know what you are going to get when you turn on your faucet, I would go with the Brita bottles. My family use them when they come down and they work great.

Yes, the smell was wierd. My kids drank it cause they were thirsty:) My dd still talks about the stinky water they use for Splash Mountain.

I have never noticed the water either way in 6 trips. Well I kept reading about how bad everyone else thought it was. Kohl's had the Brita Water bottles 1/2 price right before our last Nov. trip so I bought one for all of us. I thought I was pretty clever- Believe me!
Reality - We got so sick and tired of dragging these stupid big and heavy, when full, water bottles all over the park. Our experience is it was difficult in sucking the water through the filter. You open them up and fill full of whatever. Then you screw on the lid that has the filter attached. So... the only way to get the water from the bottle into you mouth filtered is to suck it out while holding the bottle upside down. This usually resulted in one of us getting dribbled on. Oh yeah, they also leaked in the backpack. We tried using them for over a week and could not come up w/ any way for them to work for us.
We finally ended up using our re-fillable mugs to get water and ice and dumping that into our water bottles sans filter. When we stopped for lunch we would get more ice and water from wherever we ate. That worked out much better!

I don't like the extra weight of bringing enough bottled water to the theme parks so I disguise the taste of whats available. I bring the individual-serving size packages of Crystal Light and use the tap water at the parks to mix a jug of juice. The packages weigh virtually nothing, and have less than one calorie so it works for me. And my daughter will drink it which is a big plus.

I can't even brush my teeth with it....YUCK! My kids don't mind it, but I have a friend who got VERY ill from drinking the water. It took days for him to figure out what it was, but it was the water. Bottled water is the only way to go;)
