Never had one, but back in the 1970's there was a campground that abutted DL called Anaheim Junction that we stayed at and was separated from the back warehouse area by a cinder block wall. We could stand on a picnic table and look over the wall and watch them stage the electrical light parade. After 20 years we went back to DL in 2004 and boy that place has changed in the area around DL.

In 1956 my dear ole dad and mom loaded us young'uns up and we drove across country to Disneyland. Wasn't no interstates back then either. Disneyland was only about half finished but the part that was completed was open. I don't remember much but good ole mom was a home movie nut. Some years ago I transfered all her Super 8 films on VHS. Got a lot of films from that trip.

Yeah...you aint kidding....its pretty scarry. Its Ghetto-Fabulous....without the fabulous part!!!!!:scared:

I've been thinking about a trip to Disneyland this summer. It's been 26 years since I was there last. The wife and kids have never been. There are several campgrounds in the the area, if you can really call them that. I've looked at the aerial photos of the area the the "camprounds" are really nothing more than parking lots. :scared1: I think I'm a bit spoiled by the fort.

Maybe some old timers from the west coast can help me out here. In the same trip in 56 to DisneyLand, we also have movies from our visit to Fort Apache. This was the movie set that they filmed the old series of Rin Tin Tin. Anybody know if it still exists and where it is? Google doesn't come up with anything.

We went in 2001 and let me tell you, unless a parking lot is good enough for you I would hotel it. Dsis and Dbil camped and we stayed in a hotel. The campground was just that a parking lot that you parked between the lines. I don't know how anything bigger than their truck camper would fit.

I had to do alot of looking to make sure that I wasn't losing my mind. I knew that I had remembered reading about Fort Wilderness in California closing. What I didn't remember was that Fort wildeness is the fort on Tom Sawyer Island in Disneyland. I remember panicing when I read the headline but being Sad/Relieved when I read what was actually closing..

From what I understand, staying "onsite" at Disneyland is not the same as staying onsite at Disney World. Many of the hotels on Harbour are within walking distance of the gates. There is also an Annaheim Shuttle service that works very well. Not sure if the closest campground is on that shuttle system though.
