Does Disney Have Enough On Site Restaurants?

All these threads about how difficult it is to get ADR's makes me wonder if Disney has enough on-site restaurants. I know they are not likely to be adding to many more in the bad economy but are the restaurants really as full as they seem? I know I wasn't able to get all my ADR's I wanted last year.

IMO there are enough restaurants on property. This year is my 12th trip and I am dining at all "new to me" places and there are still a bunch more places I want to try on future visits. Sure some adrs can be hard to come by but that is just because they are more popular than others.

I think that there are enough restaurants, but I think that ADRs are so difficult to come by because people learn how to "buck the system" by making multiple ADRs or otherwise not play by the rules. That said, there are also some restaurants that, perhaps, could be re-vamped a bit to draw more crowds away from the popular ones.

I think "on site" is too broad an area to generalize about. There are plenty of TS restaurants at Epcot and at the resorts. Adding one or two more options to MK and DHS would be a welcome change, though, because there are relatively few sit-down choices available and even the less popular options tend to fill quickly.

I agree with the pp about adding some more TS eateries at MK and HS. HS definitely needs another QUALITY TS restaurant. I've always thought a Star Wars themed place would be great! They could call it the Mos Isley Cantina and have the Star Wars characters out...but I digress.

I think that there have been cutbacks in staffing all over, including WDW, and that is probably affecting the # of reservations that are available...now I'm sure the restaurants will seem booked (especially in June and July) but I think that:
1. staff cutbacks, so less reservations are being accepted
2. holding back some tables for walkups
3. people "not playing fair" as previously mentioned

But, keep trying. Things change every day. I have called WDW DINE every day this week and have been successful all but one day in making changes to my ADR's.

There are more than enough. It's only difficult to get reservations at popular places that take the dining plan, or at peak times or free dining in Aug/Sept.

CM's have told me that people in the same party will call separately and book multiple meals for the same party so they have some options when they arrive. They could have control over that- attach the reservation to each member of the party, so they couldn't be dining at two places for dinner on the same night.

The problem with that is that you do not have to be staying onsite to make ADRs. There really would be no way of tracking those people staying offsite where the ADR is just attached to a phone number.

I think they have enough. Like pps said, the only real problem times are the super busy times-think fee dining period as a Fri. or Sat. night at a local place. Plan ahead, be flexible, make an ADR. If they had more, it wouldn't be economically smart-wouldthe goal to be always have some empty seating?
