We have a Walt Disney World Explorer - 2nd edition. We got it about 5 years ago (I think just before opening of AK). One of the attractions it lists is a 12 acre zoological park called Discovery Island. When we were making reservations and asked about it, the person at CR was unaware of such a place. Obviously it existed once upon a time. Is it still open, and if so how much is admission?

Well the island itself is still there. It is on Bay Lake. However, the park part of it, Discovery Island, closed when Animal Kingdom opened. It was a neat little zoo type park with lots of birds and reptiles. You can go by the island if you rent the mouse boats from the WL, Contemporary, Polynesian or GF.
