O.K. Gang, time to save me again. My husband is a big guy (read ex footbal player). We're going on the 3/4 night land and sea with kids. DH was wondering if he really needs to pack a jacket or if a button down shirt and slacks are sufficient for dinners. We do have ressies at Palo and he's, of course, willing to wear a tie, but really doesn't want to pack a jacket.

Any help???

If you plan on eating at Palo's a jacket is ***suggested***.

Also, Triton's also asks that men wear jackets for the three and four day cruises.

Big or small

it matters not at all

Button down shirt and tie

Will be enough for him to get by

PS: at least at tritons not sure of Palos , we are afraid to go there becuase of the fashion police who patrol this board looking for underdressed customers so they can belittle and shame them into not eating at certain places or times. If your husband wears a dress shirt and tie he will look fine for tritons. That is what I usually wear.

Jackets are SUGGESTED at Palo but not required. Many men wear polo shirts with jackets (no tie) and Dockers, others wear dress shirts with ties and no jacket, and some dress in suits.

Dinner at Triton's is the "dressier" night on the shorter cruises and again, jackets are suggested.

Your husband will be fine without a jacket if he doesn't want to wear one...it sounds like he will be neatly dressed. :)

Thanks all -- my hubby feels much better now. Steve -- loved the verse. You're a poet and don't know it.

Thank you Farms:)

I just think that sometimes a little levity can defuse some hostility before it happens. With formal nights and smoking topics ALL the help is needed.

Just a quick update on this. I had posted before that a jacket is required for dinner at Palo knowing that I had read this at some point. I later recalled this statement after Michelle's post above.

Well, on our cruise I found where I had read this statement. On Formal Night, the Palo dress code found in the Personal Navigator states "Jacket REQUIRED." On all other nights it states, as Michelle said, Jacket Suggested.
