Does Check-in Day Matter?

I would imagine if one arrives late night to the resort (especially during crowded times) they might be left with a room that is not one of the better options.

Do you think it matters which day of the week offers better room choices at check-in? For example, do you think most people depart on Saturdays? Sundays?

Just wondering! Maybe it does not matter at all? Thanks and have a great day.

I always check-in late (after full day of driving) and have always received an average room location based on my requests. never noticed getting a worse than average room (i.e farther from main areas..).
Weekend points (Fri-Sat) are higher, so there may be a lot of checking out on Thursday.
All of the mousekeeping service reminder examples in the rooms are based on checking in on Sunday (with cleaning or &T on Wed..) so it may actually be Sunday is the most popular check-in day.

Since rooms are made available as they are cleaned, some think an early check-in may be a slight disadvantage.
Personally, I do not worry about it.

My guess is Sunday is the most popular day to check in because lots of guests try to avoid the higher points on Fri night and Sat night.

I'd also guess that more guests check out on Fri morning (not Thur morning) because they will stay over Thur night.

Absolutely makes sense what you are saying. I hate that weekend points are so high. I guess I need to start thinking about more points:idea:

I haven't checked the boards lately for this info, but I thought starting in 2010 the weekday-weekend point distribution was being adjusted to reduce the point values for Fri and Sat while slightly raising points for Mon-Thu. Maybe that will help you enough that you don't need to get more points....

We have always checked in late on a Sunday after a long flight day from the left coast and I've never had a room that I felt was a throwaway or leftover. We've always been pleased with the room, regardless of which resort it has been.

We always check in on Sunday. We arrive on Saturday and stay at one of the value or moderates for the night and head over to our DVC resort around 8:00AM to check in. Of course our room is almost never ready except this past August. We checked into a 2 bedroom at BCV at 8:00AM and our room was READY. I almost passed out!

Not much experience except last year, we checked in on a Saturday around 2 pm and it was fine at SSR. This year we are again arriving on a Saturday at BLT hopefully around the same time - will update after our trip!
