Does changing reservation drop FP+ selections

We are currently planned to be at WDW 9/6-9/16. I make FP selections July 8th. Another mom told me they will not allow DS to miss 2 games (he'll be in 1st grade). If I find out this is true once August roles around and cut one day off our trip (so 9/7-9/16) will my Fastpass reservations be dropped? For what it's worth, 9/6 was a planned travel day so I won't have to change any actual park days/FPs.
