Does bottled water go bad?

I brought DS & friend out to the local soccer fields to get them out of the house.

Some event tents and a mobile trailer are set up between fields. Next to a trash can is 2 1/2 cases of bottled water.

The last event I *know* that happened was July 4.

So, what could be wrong with the water? They are still factory sealed.

The water itself doesn't expire but the plastic can and will degrade and contaminate the water eventually...but that would take year(s).

Water from July 4th is totally fine, but if it was next to a trash can I wonder if something nasty spilled on it and probably wouldn't take it.

If it was out in the sun, don't drink it. Plastic bottles start to deteriorate in the sun and the plastic gets in the water. That is why they say you should never leave a bottle of water in your car where the sun can hit it.

I would have too... setting in the sun for a day or two isn't going to totally contaminate a bottle of water to the point that it is hazardous to drink. Maybe if all you did was drink water like that you might have issues... once in a while, I can't believe it would be a problem.
