You should also let MS know, on the first day you call, that you will be calling daily until your reservation is complete. That way they will hold sending the confirmation until the reservation is complete.

You've got it right. You should also know that in most cases it isn't necessary to book day-by-day. Unless you are trying for a very busy period at the 7 month window, you can just wait until 7 months from your check-out day to take care of your reservation with just one call.
