Does applying early hurt your chances of acceptance?

Due to extreme traffic and overwhelming pressure on recruiters I've wondered if this could be true. I applied about a week ago.

I would think that applying early would strengthen your chances.
Last time I applied, a couple weeks after applications opened, I never got to the WBI.
This time I applied very early, and I finished up my phone interview.
Whether I actually get into the program remains to be seen.

I kind of find that statement hard to believe since spots do fill up and the later you apply the less spots they have available which means harder to get in.

I saw on another website about a week ago that a guy applied last semester at the end and didn't get in. He felt really confident and when called to find out why (just for curiosity) they said he was excellent but the roles he said he was interested in were already completely filled up. So he could be lying of course, but I think that makes sense. I agree about how you have a slightly better chance when applying just because spots start to fill up.

The statement is correct, the statement just states that they will "consider" all applicants the same way. But since roles are going to fill over time, they may consider them the same way but they may not be able to offer them because they are full. Earlier you apply the better for that reason.
