Does anything flower in Florida in August?

We usually go in May. Now my kids are school age. So we won't have the luxury of going off season anymore, at least not for long trips. We have decided to go in August. The end of August seems to be the least busy of the summertime. My family lives in Florida and we've been there in August. The heat won't be a surprise.

The thing I think we are going to miss the most about early May is the incredible smells around the Poly and the parks. Does anyone know whether anything flowers in late August? Thanks for the help.

We were there last August and the grounds were beautiful as usual! Lots of blooms if I recall correctly. :rose:

There are flowers blooming at WDW year-round. You'll have plenty of scents in the air in August -- and with the dense humid air you may notice them even more. One thing that might seem "strange" is Epcot. Since you are a May regular you've been able to see Epcot in all the "Garden Festival" glory. Epcot is still great but you won't have as many flowers/topiaries. Seemed a little "bare" the first time I saw it in the fall.

August is hurricane season if that's a consideration.

Hurricane season is from May through November, not just August.

I always tell everyone to bring their allergy medication to any Disney park no matter what the season, because there is always something in bloom and someone in the family is bound to be allergic to whatever is in bloom.

That's true, but they were going in August. Thus, my comment. And you rarely get any hurricanes in June or even July. Most start in late August or September.

Ain't that the truth. :sad2: Hopefully we will have a very quiet hurricane season, last year took a lot out of me. AND it canceled a weekend trip we had planned in Disney.
