Does anyone work at CVS or as anyone worked there before? I have a question..

I'm not sure how CVS views the complaints made against their employees, but honestly, I wouldn't go back to that one. I presume that you use that one because it's closest to you or most convienet? It's apparent that there is a personality conflict or that this manager just doesn't like you.

I for one, have never had any trouble using my mom's CVS card, we used to live in the same house hold, but no longer do. I still give her number when I go into a CVS so that REALLY shouldn't be an issue. I think she was just trying to find something to argue with. I would have asked her to void the sale and gotten out of there. I'm sorry you had that trouble.

Maybe the hire ups that get the specific complaints will send in a myster shopper with the same type of situation to see how the manager handles it, and if it sends her off the deep edge again then they will have their proof.

You should have not been treated that way. I would definitely call and report this. Good luck and let us know the outcome please.

That brings in OUTDATED Coupons, and expects us to "let it go thru." Well, when that happens, the store is notified and the Cashier is reprimanded...sounds to me like a BIG thing, but this Customer KEEPS DOING IT!! When a cashier refuses, he calls the corporate office to complain. He came thru my line, and tried to give me coupons for stuff he didn't EVEN HAVE!! I told him, "you are NOT getting me fired for this!" Now, he skips my line.:thumbsup2+++ As far the OP she had EVERY right to complain, as long as her coupons were dated correctly and she had the RIGHT item! +++ I don't GO to CVS, as they were the ones that bought out MOST of the Eckerds here.:guilty: I go to Walgreens.:thumbsup2

I don't know how negative comments are handled in the front store but in the Pharmacy they are taken very seriously (my wife is CVS Pharm Tech). I BELIEVE (not certain) they can even impact the Head Pharmacist's bonus.

Yes they affect the pharmacist bonus, but it's not just the pharmacy manager. All of the pharmacists in the store get a bonus, the pharmacy manager gets a bigger bonus. The pharmacy receives scores based on customer complaints/compliments and the score affects how much of that portion of the bonus they get.

This only applies to the pharmacy, I don't know how the front store complaints are handled.

I do think that CVS needs to be smarter about the coupons that they do distribute, and make sure that they are printing "limit 3" or whatever so people do not buy every bag of Lifesavers in the store just because they are on sale AND they have 50 coupons - and they can resell them for six times what they paid for them.

I have worked retail enough years to know that most if not every manufacturers coupon say limit 1 per purchase, that is also the case in most store coupons , sometimes it will even say it cannot be combined with any other coupons but most of the times store and manufacturers coupons can be combined , at all depends on the store. Wether the customer buys the entire store stock or not , as long as she is using the coupons within all the guidelines and requirements , the store should not give her a problem because the store gets reimbursed from the manufacturers and doesn't lose anything.
Whatever people do with the merchandise after they buy it is nobody else's business , wether they want to use it for personal use , resale or donate.
Again as long as the OP followed the guidelines they should not give her any problems. The big issue here seemed to be that the cashier was mad that the customer was using the sister's card , not different from my husband being able to use mine if you ask me....how do they know if he is my husband and not my brother? They don't check.
Those who want to use outdated coupons and demand to be accepted are just plain dumb , but you would be shocked to see how many cashiers don't know what to do with coupons.

Unfortunately, with almost every person having access to a computer, there is now a problem with people making their own coupons. I am NOT saying this is what the OP did. But now every time someone hands you a coupon you have to spend time inspecting it to make sure it is on the up and up. This is frustrating both for the honest people who are trying to make the most of their money by using coupons, and for the cashiers who now have to look for fradulent coupons. That is why so many stores have stopped taking internet coupons. They are to easy to fake.

I still think a big part of this hubub was caused by the bad history between the OP and the store manager. Op--do you care to fill us in?

OP, do you have your own CVS card? If so, just give the cashier your phone number and it will put it on your "account" that way. I never ever carry all those savings cards, why should I when my phone number can look it up as well?

Well I just wanted to update everyone on my call to customer relations today. I was unable to get a hold of the first person that I spoke with, but someone else there helped me and then transferred me to customer relations. She told me that I definitely shouldn't have been treated that way and that she would file a formal complaint. She said that she would probably be written up for treating me this way and that she would be counseled on the extracare program and coupon use. She told me that the district manager would call me within 1-2 days with an update.

As far as any bad "relationship" goes with this manager, I have done nothing to cause it. I shop at about three different CVS stores and I only go to this one when I want to get an early edition AJC as the other two stores do not carry it. Now I will just have to start making an extra trip to stop at a gas station and get it. I do think the manager may have a bad opinion of me because I use a lot of coupons there (LEGALLY, all for products I am buying, with good expiration dates, etc.). My total can sometimes go anywhere from $30 down to 50 cents, but I play by the rules of their program and do very good with it. I cannot help the fact that I am the smart shopper that my budget requires me to be. All of the other employees at that store have been very, very nice to me and one even bragged to another employee about how good of a shopper I am. I have never been rude to the manager despite her less than friendly attitude with me. I am a very good customer and that is why I am SO outraged over what happened, because I did not deserve it at all. I have enough going on in my life where I don't have the time or energy to get all worked up over small stuff, but her treatment towards me was just uncalled. What I would really like to see happen from this would be for her to be told that she cannot treat customers that way, and to maybe see some of her "power" taken away as she is abusing it. An apology would be nice, but I know she isn't sorry.

I live in the Atlanta vincinity, which store do you shop at! I surely don't want to go there, assuming AJC is the Atlanta Journal Constitution?

She rang everything up, and scanned all my coupons, but when I handed her my ECB she asked who is (name)? I said that is my sister and she lets me use her card. She told me "you know you are not supposed to be using other people's cards". I told her that I never knew that CVS had a problem with it as I have spoken with corporate about other issues and mentioned that I was using a card other than mine (when they asked for my name). She said well fine lets just call corporate right now and see, and she went over, got on the phone, and was on hold for a few minutes.

From shopping at CVS I know that the ECBs are not transferable. In other words, if the cashier scanned YOUR card at the beginning of the transaction, the register will only accept ECBs earned on your account. You cannot use ECBs earned on another account. I'm not sure if you have a separate card from your sister-if so, do you think that might have caused the problem?

Anyway-I hope you get the situation resolved. I have heard that the CVS corporate office is very responsive.

It is the CVS located in Rome, GA on Shorter Avenue. And yep, AJC is Atlanta Journal. I always pick it up on Saturday so I can look at the circulars and plan my shopping trips. The store on Maple Street in Rome is the nicest and they never say anything or give me any trouble. But even at the store on Shorter the other employees have been very nice to me and I have even shared coupons with one once before. Hopefully the district manager will find out what is going on there so maybe we won't have to avoid the store.

I am glad that you took the time to contact customer service about this. I would bet that you are not the only customer she has treated badly.
