Does anyone use the grocery game list to save money on groceries?

Cruisin, I saw the commercial yesterday morning during Coach - USA channel, 8/15/05 around 7:15 but it probably doesn't matter. I see the commercial all the time here.

well, I went to ALDI's and spent .65 on a dozen large eggs. The debit machine wasn't working because their phone lines went down due to a storm we had here two nights ago. I guess this is the place I bring my cash. I can forsee buying some things to try for cheaper and then decide if I willshop there regularly or not. Also, they don't take coupons so no name brand buys for me there (probably).

Thanks for the info and keep it coming.

I also saw the Today show today. Where the lady was buying the deodorant that was $2.49, and Teri says "see, you have a $1 coupon, so this will be 49 cents."

My question is, where on earth do they double $1 coupons? My Publix doubles coupons UP TO 50 cents, (and I get the impression from this board that that's pretty good, as some of you don't get doubles at all) so the most you can ever hope to get is $1 off an item. But a 55 cent coupon is only good for 55 cents.

Do some of you really get 75 cent and $1 coupons doubled? That would explain a lot. That's the only way I can ever see The Grocery Game working to the extent they claim it does. Just wondering.

Yes, here we can just double to .99 so the 1/1s don't really help. I try to get the 99 & under from other parts of the country. There are stores that double $1 coupons all the time...not many...but there are some. Stores have special coupon sales where they double or even triple up to 1.00 coupons. That doesn't happen too often though. :(

My Superfresh doubles anything up to and including 99 cent coupons. However, our Acme right down the road only doubles to 50 cents.

Wow! That would be awesome! As you can see, I am in Savannah, Georgia. If you don't mind my asking, what part of the country are you ladies in? Maybe it's a regional thing? :confused3

When I lived in San Diego the stores there doubled up to a $1. This was 8 years ago so I don't know if they still do that or not.

Most of the stores I use double up to .99, which usually means .75 since there don't seem to be many coupons between .75 and 1.00. 1.00 coupons are face only. Our Giant triples up to .75 (I think) during the week that they offer triples. Also, one store I use, it is a pseudo warehouse market, takes only face value on coupons, but when something is on sale and I have a .75 or a 1.00 off, it is a good deal.

I looked at the GG for PA and it only lists shoprite, where I DON't shop so I won't be able to use it. Coupon Mom also only lists shoprite so I will have to be the couponing queent on my own for now. *sigh*

BTW, I went to Aldi's today and found that they don't take coupons. However, I will give them a good try since there are so many positive remarks about their products.

Thanks.

I live in SE PA (suburban Philly)

Coupon questions for the experts.

First WD has coupons in their flyer this week. 18oz Jif Peanut butter for $.68. It says: limit one certificate per family per item per order. Cannot be combined with any other reward certificates on the coupon. First question, can I use a manufactures coupon with this coupon? I think yes, since one is a store coupon and one is a manufacturer coupon. What do you guys think? Second question, the way I read it, the only way I could buy more than one Jif would be to do separate orders, right? I assume I can use all 6 coupons(for various other items) on the same order but just not more than one of the same item.

Second question for FL shoppers, our grocery stores accept each others coupons as a general rule. I have some "publix baby club" coupons one of which gives me free kotex products, do you think WD will accept this? They're having a thing going where if you spend $25 on Scott towel, Cottonelle, huggies mega wipes refills, depends, poise pads or kotex, you get a $5 coupon printed at checkout. Probably the catalina thing. You also get a $10 Upromise contribution if you buy 10 of these items with your Upromise registered rewards card. The only things I could even use is the Scott towel, Cottonelle(TP) and kotex. I don't really need $25 worth of these items or 10 of these items but I'd love to take advantage of them if I could get some good deals. Well, I'd love to use the free coupon but don't know if they'll take it.

Anyhow, please share your views on this stuff for me. I'm trying to become a coupon pro but I'm just not there quite yet!
Anymore words of wisdom?

I went to Bi-Lo tonight and got 6 boxes of Totinos pizza and 2 large boxes of Hungry Jacks pancake mix for $2.19! The pizza were on sale 5 for $5 and I had 3 $.50 coupons and 3 $.60 (which only doubled to $1.00 - no overage!) and the pancakes were BOGOs. They were out of these Sunday night. I also went to Toys R Us and got a lot of Christmas shopping done - clearance is at 50% now. I got some stuff for the 3 kids and a lot for Toys for Tots. Then I headed over to Home Depot to buy my NEW FREEZER!!! Woohoo! I have no room from all of my grocery game finds! And of course I used my 10% off coupon!

OK, now that you guys are into this I thought that I would enlighten you ... or some of you ... about blinkies. These are the red coupon boxes that are on the shelves and most have a small light that blinks. If your store doubles coupons, the blinkies there will not double. If your store doesn't double, the blinkies there will double. ;) Here's how. There is a code underneath the bar code on the coupon. If there is a 5 in front of the code, the coupon will double. If there is a 9 in front of the code, the coupon will not double. 9 = NO :) So....if there are good blinkies out there, go to a store that doesn't double and do some coupon shopping. Put those coupons with the 5s in your coupon binder/envie and use them at your doubling store.

HAVE FUN! :sunny:

I've used those "blinkie" coupons before and they don't double. Of course I don't know if they had a 9 or a 5 but I find it hard to believe that any of them would double since the stores around here don't do that. I'll have to look closely next time I'm thinking of using one.

OK, let me try to explain it better. If store A doubles the blinkies in their store will have the 9 and not double because of the 9. If store B doesn't double any coupons they will have the 5 blinkies and although those blinkies will not double at THAT store, they WILL double if you take them to store A and use them there.

You can use this for other coupons too. The code on the bottom tells the computer what to do. The coupon may have "do not double" written on the top BUT if the code starts with a 5...it will double (unless the cashier manually overrides it but most don't pay attention to that). :)

Around here stores don't double on a day to day basis. But, they will during special sales. Last week Sav-a-center tripled up to 1.00 on health and beauty products with a limit of 8 tripled coupons and then doubled up to 0.50 on everything else no limit. This week the same store tripled up to 0.50 on everything, no limit. It was great! This store is not a GG store so I had to do the figuring out deals myself but I think I did really good!

I can't wait until my GG store does a similar sale then I will really be able to see what GG is made of.

Thanks for the info. I knew 5 cpns doubled and 9 cpns didn't but I never thought about the logistics of where they would be.

I tried to use a blinkie at CVS yesterday and it gave me trouble. I didn't use it because when I looked at is at CVS I thought it excluded my items. When I read it later it was for the correct items. Now I'm aggravated because it messed up my free deal. I'm still getting a great deal but it is no longer free.

Here is s. jersey all the grocery stores double coupons but only up to $1.00 (ie: .75 coupons = $1.00 off). By the way I have been trying out the list and have not really been that happy with it. :confused3 More that once the price on Terri's list was not what the item was (ie: tuna two weeks in a row List= CS tuna 4 for $2, store 4 for $4). Also she doesn't list all the meats that Shop rite has on sale. This week only listed chops and some pre cooked chicken when all of the perdue chicken was 50% off!!
If I could just find out when different catagories of grocery's go on sale I could probably do this myself.
Doing the list does take me quite awhile at home and at the store.
Flight of ideas here :hyper2:
also I do not wish to handle a stock pile of grocerys.
