Does anyone use the grocery game list to save money on groceries?

Just wondering if the SS coupons vary by area or anything. I was looking to get the Energizer batteries but when I went to look for the coupon that is listed as SS 7/31, there were none in my SS section of the coupons for this week and they were not listed on the SS website either. Just wondering. Thanks!

yes, they do vary. I live near Milw, but usually also get coupons from Chicago. About 80-90% are the same, but others are either different or have different values.

Well I went armed with my list to the Giant today and I think I did pretty well. I spent under $100 and I think that will last us the week pretty much. I do think, however, that the "basic" concept of this whole thing is to stockpile if it's over 50% off! Having the list was nice though because I missed things in the ad even though I thought I went over it pretty well. Like for example ... the batteries that were buy one get one free + the $2 coupon made them very cheap! I wouldn't have normally gotten those, even though I need them for my digital camera all the time ... I would have waited until they were dead and paid 3x the price at the 7-11 or something.

Again, you could do this on your own ... but having the list made me look more carefully that I was getting the RIGHT deal. Like porkchops .. the good center cut ones were on sale for 1/2 price but ALL the others were too ... just not for 1/2 price! I had to do a little extra looking to find the right ones but got a nice sized pack for under $6. My giant is small so they didn't have a few things on the list and one thing I got a rain-check for. I think I'd be better to shop on Wednesday as they were re-stocking things as I left.

I also had all the coupons she called for. She didn't list any V's for this weeks paper so I'm thinking there was not a V section in the Post this week. I did notice that being in the DC metro area some prices were higher ... like Coke 12 pks were supposed to be on sale 4/$8... but my ad said 4/$10.

I saved almost 50% on my bill using my club card (which I do anyway) about $10 in coupons and $4 in store meat coupons. I think it will work for me ... at least until I get into the habit of doing it myself. I'd bet after some time you would get the hang of it and be able to do it.

Not only do coupons vary by region, they vary by paper! I am fortunate to live in an area with a lot papers available - Nj, Ny & Philadelphia. The value of the coupons, and even their inclusion in the insert is different depending on what paper you buy.

Another thing I find, which is why I sometimes order online, is that we tend to get coupons that won't double at many stores. Like 55c or $1. The best for me (at one store) would be 75c, and we rarely have them. But I have been able to order them from florida, where they don't have so many doubles.

Also I ALWAYS check the individual papers I buy for all the inserts. It's easy for mistakes to be made when stuffing the papers. I don't care if people look at me funny. I know I'm not stealing them, and I don't want the paper without them!!

OK, I'm revved up and excited for this weeks grocery game list!

I just got my sale flyers and I got a $5 off a purchase of $30 or more from Publix. Woohoo! And, Winn Dixie will take too if I don't end up shopping at Publix on Monday.

Also, my Winn Dixie flyer looks really good! Lots of deals on stuff we use this week. I kept the flyer in case some of these items don't hit the list(not rock bottom enough) and I decide to get them anyway.

Winn Dixie also has a promotion going for a free $25 BP gas card. You just have to spend $50 per week for 6 out ot the next 8 weeks. I do that easily! Free gas card here I come!

Plus, a very nice DISer( Southern4sure) has offered to send me some of her extra coupons so that'll help me build up my coupons. I only started cutting coupons 2 weeks ago so I don't have many and the GG calls for alot of them.

Sounds great but I have to ask, Was that your shopping for the week? Because my family of 4 needs WAY more stuff than that to survive a week. I didn't see anything to make dinner out of.

Not criticizing, just asking because you are one of the ones who I think is a really great shopper/dealgetter and I wondered if you have a stockpile of meats and other foods already so that was all you needed for a week. If so, I'll be looking forward to getting to that point.

Oh definitely!!! There is no way we could live on just that! This is all I am doing this summer. I have a chest freezer outside that is stocked with chicken nuggets, fresh strawberries, big pretzles, frozen pizza, garlic bread, frozen snacks & sides, popsicles, & icecream. Oh & shrimp too! The one inside has the meats. I also have a full pantry with rice, pasta, tomatoes, salsa, PB, general condiments, salad dressings, lots of cereal, crackers, popcorn, and baking mixes. There are 3 boxes of Gogurt in the freezer, 4 8 packs of drinking yogurt, and plenty of cheese in the fridge. There is flour & sugar stashed in the back of the cabinets too. I use to have pics on the other computer of my stockpile. It is being depleted this summer, but that is also saving my sanity so I don't have to go out with the kids as much.

There are two dinners with the barrilla meals since they are skillet meals with everything in them. I'll make a salad & pop in some garlic bread for that. I use the feta in salads, add it on pizza, and make a shrimp & feta dish with tomatoes on pasta.

I get circulars on Tuesdays in my mailbox. Usually a WD ad, a KashNKarry ad, an Albertsons ad and a Publix ad. This week, I didn't get a Publix ad but I got this one letter size posterboardish piece of paper which had a coupon for $5 off a purchase of $30 or more. I don't think I did anything special to get it, it was instead of a flyer. Don't know if they are also available in the store. Guess it can't hurt to ask. Do you get the sale flyers in your mailbox?

BP is Amoco also. Do you have Amoco? I guess they track it on your rewards card because it said it doesn't have to be a single purchase but cumulative purchases totaling $50 or more for 6 out of the next 8 weeks.

Since I'm a newbie at coupons I don't have any stored up. I don't think 2 for $6 is rock bottom since WD often does B1G1F for that but now that i think about it, how much is a 1/2 gallon of Breyers? It might be as much as $5.99 but I don't think it's that high....hmmm...now I've confused myself.

Did you get the $5 off $30 coupon? I'm guessing you didn't because you got a Publix ad. I got no ad but got the coupon in with all the grocery sale flyers.
