Does anyone use Ebay anymore?

I used to have relatively good luck selling on Ebay, but a few of the things I've listed lately have had almost no views. I know they want you to pay extra to "promote" your listing (which I don't really do), but it's just odd that literally *nothing* is moving lately. Do you think FB marketplace is giving them a run for their money?

I use eBay regularly as a seller and buyer. I haven't had much luck selling anything within the last few months. Just like you, my listings get almost zero views. This week I was given a bunch of Disney ears/headbands by a relative that no longer wants them and I've been putting them up on eBay. Those listings are getting A LOT of views (as well as multiple people watching certain listings) so maybe some items get more attention than others?

I did turn off offers as the amount of lowballing was getting ridiculous. For example, I would set the price at $40 and someone messages me offering $15. Uh......no. Those messages are automatically ignored as I'm not wasting my time with haggling.

As a buyer, I've been finding great deals on Gamecube games (currently rebuilding my collection as my sister took almost all of our childhood games). You just need to know what to look out for.

Never used ebay to buy or sell anything. Heard of others having way too many issues/scams/etc. I also am not in the market for used and/or collectible items so probably not their target market. Have never purchased anything in an online auction, just not something that interests me.

There are plenty of legit business sites online to buy any number of items. Common household items are often shown on several websites, so I tend to look around and compare prices when making a purchase.

I don't ever sell things, period, but that's a "me" thing not a "you" thing. However, if I need to buy something that's a bit unique, eBay is the first place I'll check 🤷‍♀️

So, yes, 🙋‍♀️ hi, I do!

I can't tell you why your listings are getting zero views, though. For what it's worth, I tend to search using the "buy it now" filter. I'm usually happy to pay for the convenience of knowing that I've locked down what I went there looking for. Are you doing a lot of auctions? I don't think a lot of people are willing to wait up to 7 days now to find out if they won something.

I use it for research... and what I have discovered is that sellers are not researching volume aof the item they listed. If an item is rare or truly limited...it will sell

Not a seller. I haven't bought anything for at least a decade, however I found 3 saucers to go with the 3 very old English teacups I bought at Goodwill the week before. Booths England Springtime pattern. It occurred to me to try to find matching saucers and there they were...on ebay!

I have few spring/summer vintage items for our counter height work table (it looks antique) we had built for the kitchen rather than a kitchen island. I put a runner down the center and display old crocks, china and other vintage kitchenware seasonally. I still have room for working on the sink side and for seating on the other side. I paid $8 for the cups and $10 (w/shipping) for the saucers. They are so cute!

My daughter sold her college textbooks there 11 years ago. Really don't even think to look there when I am shopping for something. But at my age, I am purging not buying and purging usually means taking stuff to Goodwill, not worth the effort to sell anything.
Although a co-worker about that same time quit his job to sell full time on Ebay. He specialized in household items, things he could buy at garage sales locally for $5 sell for $10. Not sure if he is still doing that.

I've been selling on eBay for over 20 years. Before Christmas I had a lot of people watching things, but nobody was buying. Highly unusual for the Christmas shopping season. Since Christmas has passed I've been flooded with sales. And these are auction listings. Most have the best offer turned on, but they're bidding instead of sending offers.

You can set a minimum price on the best offer feature. It will automatically reject any offer below your minimum.

Have always done that and still had people message me with low ball offers. So I just turned off offers permanently and ignore all messages about it.

I've even had people use that feature to send an offer that was within my price range and then type out "Can I actually offer *insert low ball offer here*?"

Used to buy, but stopped years ago. Never sold.
DH still buys occasionally

You can also set it to automatically accept offers over a certain amount. That would surprise them!

Ok, I've never had THAT happen!

I buy stuff every now and then, but it is rare. I could not imagine trying to sell anymore. I did a few things like 20 years ago, but that was rare too.

That was back when I was purging my entire Disney pin collection and the people who did that were almost always pin resellers, so these people knew their value and expected me not to lol
Can I pick your brain on that someday? I have a pretty valuable collection that was my mother's with some pretty rare pins. I don't want them and I would love to sell them on eBay for a fair price.

I just received an ebay purchase today! I ordered a Lady Sunbeam vintage hair dryer. Back then, they were made in the USA! Try getting an American made hair dryer today. It was in mint condition!

I think fb marketplace is more popular b/c people can see stuff in person and reject it. also, at least around here, fb marketplace sellers tend to look at eBay prices and undercut.

I buy discontinued OEM appliance and auto parts from eBay, and some Chinese-made sewing items that have cheaper shipping there than AliExpress, but that's about it.

DH has a huge comic book collection from his youth, and often sells those. He does get irritated, though; lots of buyers really just want to read them, so they try to return them a day after receiving them with the claim that they are not in the condition he advertised. (Well of course not; you took the danged thing out of the wrapper and read it!)
